I’m only a week into this new year, and it’s been ✨busy✨. Cheers to getting more comfortable being uncomfortable and taking the risk, because what’s the worst that can happen?

I've been cosplaying as a professional party planner for the last 365 days, and that journey is finally over. Well, at least for the next 4- 9 years.

My absolute fave birthday text from my fave girls 💕

A Penny James original. Shoutout to whoever’s birthday it was for the dino stickers 🦕

My forever fave @chrisrenee_, floral designer extraordinaire 🌺

@al_alexander is the funniest person for these candles 🎂

This was probably my favorite concept-to-reality project so far. I need to write a case study because the entire weekend was a success. 🥂

Forever grateful to @biglou_trains for sharing his time and expertise for a workout honoring @ladygnh 💕💪🏾 Loved that we did it at her tree.

Very happy to have my guest bedroom back. VERY!

@cupertinocbs watch party with @signedblake and @ftnfab_24’s alter ego, lol

Yes, I made the confetti that was sprinkled everywhere. I’m not new to this, but true to this.

I haven’t been back to Yates since 7th grade and recognized nothing except the colors, lol; such a privilege to honor Mr. Henderson and give him his flowers in person.

One thing I’m gonna do when @sharsaysso is in town is have a good time, dish, and laugh. Love you, sis 💕

The only thing I flip-flop on is whether to have curly or straight hair.

Nothing a good manicure can’t cure. 💅🏾

Stopped saving the good stuff for special occasions because every day is a special occasion. ✨

My birthday means it’s @heysherylshields’ momma-versary! You’re welcome, lol 💕

May the✌🏾be the only thing that ages me

Another one for the books! Grateful to have produced and moderated @nabjlaofficial’s Black Men in Media conversation alongside an incredible group of Black journalists, creatives, and storytellers. What made this so fun was that we combined the women & men for the first time, so the people showed out ✨

Proud of what we’re building under this administration and even more grateful for the people who continue to show up for it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for NABJLA’s Black Women & Black Men in Media at USC. For the first time, we brought these two annual conversations together for one afternoon and the room was filled with honest insight, lived experience, and meaningful dialogue about the future of our industry.

A special thank you to our incredible panelists @thando_d, @drallirich, @80dollarsandasuitcase, @therachlindsay, @abc7tim, @justinasylvester and @iamterrencet! And to our moderators, President @sharsaysso and VP @archiejayspeaks for helping bring these conversations to life.

And to everyone who showed up, asked questions, shared space, and supported NABJLA, we thank you. This is what community looks like.

Until the next one. 🖤

TYSM to @nabjlaofficial my sis @sharsaysso @archiejayspeaks and @rayzhon for having me on this weekend panel to speak amongst some of the BRIGHTEST and BLACKEST minds in journalism and media. I’m still processing all the gems from Saturday. When @thando_d spoke about her legacy and said she wants to “find new ways to surprise the bloodline,” I could’ve went in the bushes and wept!!! MY GAWD!!!!!!
.
Last slide, I was yapping @therachlindsay ear off, I’m so sorry, I couldn’t help it. Rachel you are IT, and im obsessed!

#NABJ26 — Batch 1.

Another year. Another room full of people I’m grateful to know, learn, and somehow survive this conference with.

I spoke.
I led.
I laughed.
I felt A LOT — and these 20 photos don’t cover it.

Every year reminds me that this work, these people, and these moments matter.

Batch 2 coming sooner than later… but for now, here’s your reminder: every year counts. Every moment counts. And the people you share them with count even more.

Houston, we’ll see you in 2027.

SN: Can I PLEASE get a round of applause in the comments for me conquering the Tamia dance?!

Your boy was in the trenches.

NABJ, you don’t miss! 🖤

And to think, these pics aren’t even half of it.

Nothing compares to the fullness I left this year’s NABJ feeling. The icing on the cake? Serving as a volunteer for the first time. I got to go behind the scenes and see up close the legacy, vision and hard work of those who work year-round to create a space for us to gather, connect and celebrate the incredible work and achievements of Black journalists.

A time was had. Moments were MADE. ✨

And to everyone I didn’t get a chance to flick it up with, we got Texas up next! 🤠

That’s a wrap on #NABJ26! ✊🏾

From powerful conversations to new connections, Atlanta reminded us of the strength, purpose, and impact of Black journalists coming together.

We’re home inspired, energized, and ready to keep building. Until next time, NABJ!

It’s been 9 years since my last #NABJ convention and it exceeded my expectations. Grateful for the time spent reconnecting IRL with long time fam, and making new connections. Love seeing how we’ve all grown, how we’re moving and shaking, and navigating this insane industry. Left feeling full and really inspired. 🙏🏽

It’s always a family affair at @nabjofficial convention and, this year in Atlanta owes me absolutely nothing. Thankful for the great conversations, great food, and new relationships ✨
