We are thrilled to announce the official opening of The Photographic Gallery, a new space dedicated to celebrating the power of photography.

To mark this milestone, our inaugural exhibition, ‘Once upon a time...’ invites you on a journey through diverse narrative worlds. The exhibition brings together a curated collection of works from 13 exceptional contemporary photographers – showcasing premier Australian talent alongside captivating perspectives from overseas.

Unfolding across a rich tapestry of genres, the exhibition spans striking street photography, intimate portraiture, sweeping landscapes, and contemplative still life. Each of the 13 artists brings a distinct voice to the gallery, with the collection deliberately playing with form, scale, and varied print sizes to create a dynamic, immersive visual experience that changes with every turn.

Featured photographers: Brent Lukey, Carine Thevenau, Carly Earl, Cybele Malinowski, David Niu, Liz Ham, Meg Hewitt, Michele Aboud, Paul Blackmore, Scarlet Page, Sean Fryxell, Simon Harsent and Tim Levy.

react/respond began as a simple idea within POOL Collective: what might happen if artists communicated only through images?

What started in 2019 as an eight-month experiment became an extended visual dialogue lasting almost three years. Each month, one image would be offered to the group, and the others would respond, not by copying or remaking it, but by creating a personal visual reaction shaped by feeling, memory, association, and instinct.

react/respond became a way of listening through photographs. A conversation without explanation. A process of reflection, interpretation, and exchange.
