Villa Mon Repos, Taormina: an Indian wedding day, from henna to the dance floor.

Surbhi’s morning began with henna, white bangles and a maang tikka resting on her forehead.
Thomas waited by the window, then arrived among his guests in clouds of red and green smoke.
Under the mandap, with Isola Bella and the Ionian Sea below, they were joined in front of the people they love most.
As the sun went down behind Mount Etna, the lehenga started to swirl and nobody wanted to sit down again.

Two ceremonies. One wedding day in Tuscany.⁠

Sanya and Manuel celebrated their wedding at Castello di Meleto with an Indian ceremony in the morning and a symbolic ceremony in the afternoon, overlooking the Tuscan hills and the castle.⁠
⁠
The morning and afternoon could hardly have looked more different, but they belonged perfectly to the same day.⁠
⁠
From yellow petals, rituals and family moments in the morning to an outdoor ceremony surrounded by vineyards and cypress trees later in the day, the whole wedding felt incredibly rich in colour, atmosphere and meaning.⁠
⁠
I’ve photographed many weddings at Castello di Meleto over the years. It’s a place I know very well and one I’m always happy to return to, especially when every wedding manages to show me a completely different side of it.⁠
