TRIGGER STEP DRILL

Love this drill for all skill levels as a prep drill. Not about speed.. it’s about a disciplined stride and body control.

The trigger step is your first brake step when running any stop route.

Snap your hips down violently. Playing low absorbs force, allows you to decelerate, but also allows you to be explosive out of the break.

The key: don’t break stride. Your stride stays the same until you slam the brakes. Hit that trigger step violently within the stride of your natural running motion. If your stride changes you’re indicating to the defender that a break is coming.

Winter WR Work Week 2❄️
This week we were able to ramp it up a bit since everyones getting back into the groove. We got a lot of help from @eddie_morales3 being able to give us reps at DB & WR. We worked release mechanics, top of the route, & secondary releases. We’re always going to work breaks, cuts, & catches because you can always get better but its important to have a plan for what each session will emphasize. I try to be mindful of the mileage I put on the knees and ankles, we can’t forget this is still winter break. But being mindful and making each rep meaningful allows us to get great work without killing our legs. We probably got one full week left before guys start heading back, lets continue to work! #wrtraining #plus2performance #winterbreak #newjersey

🚨 SNATCH GRIP DEADLIFTS: Not For Beginners

Let’s get real: If you can’t master a standard deadlift, stay away from this one.

Why snatch grip deadlifts are ADVANCED ONLY:
• Increased range of motion demands elite mobility
• Wider grip tests shoulder stability
• Greater time under tension = Higher technical demand
• Tests your posterior chain like nothing else

The brutal truth about who should do these:
✓ Already deadlift 2x bodyweight with perfect form
✓ Have mastered ATG principles
✓ Possess elite thoracic mobility
✓ Can maintain neutral spine under fatigue

Why most athletes FAIL here:
• Weak posterior chain foundation
• Limited overhead mobility
• Poor scapular control
• Rushing progression

We use these with our elite athletes ONLY after they’ve built:
• Full ROM strength
• Bulletproof movement patterns
• Superior joint control
• Perfect conventional form

Save this post if you’re ready for advanced training.
But remember: Master the basics first. Your progress depends on it.
