Through her art, @shawndulaney22 explores the combustible relationship between humanity and nature.

For decades, Shawn has observed the living world in her
artwork, creating mercurial landscapes and seascapes while simultaneously studying the embodiment of elemental forces such as wind, rain, and sunlight. She
portrays subjects that are practically imperceptible, investigating the essence of vaporous matter such as mist and fog. There is a reverent intimacy in Dulaney’s approach to canvas and paper, whether with handmade paint or watercolor, as she allows the movement of her brush to coalesce freely with its intended substrate. This flow of paint creates its own primacy, its own locus of place and meaning.

An Upstate arts center pops up in Downtown Manhattan!

Non-profit organization Savage Wonder Art Center presents “Savage/Wonder,” a pop-up group exhibition at 89 Franklin Street in Tribeca. The two-month exhibit features 16 artists who have served in the military or have worked as first-responders.

The Tribeca pop-up exhibit is a way for Savage Wonder Art Center to introduce its work to the NYC arts community. Founded in 2021, the organization opened its new 12,000-square-foot hub in May in a historic bank building in Beacon, NY. The venue’s lower level, Savage Wonderground, is currently open, featuring a 4,000-square-foot art gallery, 50-seat theater, and a wine & dessert bar located in the bank’s vault. Plans for the upper levels include three additional performance spaces, including a 60-seat theater slated to open in 2026 and a 125-seat main stage.

Savage Wonder’s mission is to nurture the creative careers of veterans and first-responders and to provide a platform for visual artists whose work is shaped by their experiences serving the country.

For more info and photos, check out my Substack (link in bio). Please consider subscribing while you’re there.

These 4 large handmade paint works on paper (each 45” x 65”) by Shawn Dulaney, a series of 4 in a local client’s home, look exquisite and fill this new construction house so beautifully with their flow of colors and different moods. The owners are beyond happy with their serenity and changing light. Shawn is usually known for her paintings on linen stretched on canvas however these oversized paintings on paper are a departure.
