What a weekend. 🤎

I came to New Orleans for Curate and left feeling deeply grateful for the women I got to meet and the kind of room I got to be in.

Women who are faith-driven. Women who are building. Women who are leading. Women who are creating beautiful lives. And, most importantly, women who genuinely want to see other women win.

New Orleans really is a girls’ girl city!

And I’m incredibly grateful to have won the @curateforwomen Pitch Competition and to have the opportunity to keep building Selah, expanding preventative health and wellness, and ultimately helping more women live healthier, longer lives.

Autism Awareness Month

In a recent conversation, our founder @shayclaiborne shared her journey with her daughter.

She wasn’t diagnosed at her first evaluation.
It took three more years to get answers.

Three years that matter.

During the conversation, she shared her perspective as a mom with a background in early childhood development and how that shaped the way she showed up for her daughter. Most families don’t have that same support or clarity.

And not every parent starts with a concern
some just want to feel sure their child is okay.

That experience is exactly why MilestoneMate exists today.

So no parent is left guessing
and no child’s progress goes unseen.

✨ Your child’s progress partner

Our Founder & CEO, Shay Claiborne, had the opportunity to share more about MilestoneMate and the impact we’re making for families across Louisiana with Leadership Louisiana.

Thank you to @nexuslouisiana for creating space for founders, leaders, and CEOs across agencies to connect, collaborate, and explore innovative solutions shaping the future of our state.

Thank you to the @urbanleaguela and @ochsnerhealth for hosting such an impactful event and for inviting MilestoneMate to power the Digital Child Developmental Health Booth. 🧡

At MilestoneMate, we help families and providers track, monitor, and support early childhood development.

We don’t stop at risk identification. We follow the journey from concern identified → referral → services received.

At The Big Health Event, families onboarded to MilestoneMate and took the first step toward staying connected to the support their child needs.

At Camelback, our work has never stopped at funding. Capital is only one piece of the journey, and we're committed to opening doors, expanding networks, and creating opportunities for our Fellows to build the relationships that help their ventures grow and sustain.

During Essence Fest weekend, we partnered with Maroon and Startup Noir NOLA (Greater New Orleans, Inc. – GNO, Inc. initiative), to bring together funders, investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders committed to strengthening pathways for historically overlooked entrepreneurs.

The evening featured a fireside conversation with our CEO Shawna Young, joined by Salem Habte of Startup Noir NOLA and Ryan Bates of Bates Development, exploring what it takes to create stronger ecosystems of support — followed by pitches from three New Orleans-based Camelback Fellows building bold solutions in the communities they call home.

Because when founders have access to the right rooms, resources, and communities — they don't just scale ventures; they build a new blueprint for entrepreneurship.

We're spending July doing what we believe matters most: showing up.

From New Orleans to Washington, DC, and Cincinnati, we'll be gathering with founders, investors, partners, and ecosystem builders who are helping create more accessible pathways for entrepreneurs to thrive.

We're especially excited to kick things off in New Orleans during Essence Festival weekend as a sponsor of the Maroon Investor Series Happy Hour, where members of the Startup Noir NOLA and Maroon investment communities will connect—and where Camelback Fellows Kwame Terra (bEHR Health), Shay Claiborne (MilestoneMate), and Melanie Richardson (TrainingGrounds) will take the stage to pitch.

If you'll be at any of our July stops, we'd love to connect!

Subscribe to our newsletter through the link in our bio to see where we're headed next, learn about events we'll be attending, and find opportunities to connect with the Camelback team while we're on the road.
