My dear friend Adam Rose, insanely talented comic book writer, creator of Huge Detective, and teacher at Harvard-Westlake, asked if I'd come talk all things CVT with the entrepreneurship class on campus. Say less 🙌

Of course I brought ice cream...I may be dumb, but I’m not stupid. What an incredible group of students. Truly!

My advice...Don’t wait until you’re ready. You’re not. Start anyway. Fail miserably. Learn some shit. Fail slightly less miserably. Rinse and repeat until people start calling you an entrepreneur.

And under NO circumstances should you use my career path as a template 😂

P.S. Thank you Harvard-Westlake for stocking the cafeteria freezer with CVT!

Up next to read, or reread in this case: Kull, Exile of Atlantis by Robert E. Howard. I actually first read these stories 20 some years ago and I remember liking them as much as Conan’s adventures. But so much time has passed, it’ll be like reading them again for the first time.

After reading Adam Rose @shazamcap new Kull novella, it made me really want to jump back into this book. But while I was boning back up on Kull, I read something interesting: that the character, or at least as Howard envisioned him, is on the asexual spectrum. This totally went over my head in 2006, but now you’d best believe I’m going to read these stories through an asexual lens.

Taking a break from sharing my comic con haul to bring you my latest for ScreenRant! It’s a review of @shazamcap new Kull novella from @titanbooks titled The Undoomed Man. It’s a great read that nails the character, and you can learn more by smashing the link in bio.

Titan Comics is a publisher of a wide variety of comics, graphic novels, and manga. Recently, their Conan comics from Jim Zub have been immensely popular. Here are a few other comic hidden gems from Titan I enjoyed!

The Junction - Konyu’s distinct geometric style makes this story of a missing boy all the more beautiful. There’s a compelling central mystery of a boy returning home unaged after being missing for a decade. The storytelling through diary entries slowly reveals absurdities and secrets beneath the surface.

The Beautiful Death - Bablet’s churned out some great graphic novels since this, but his early tale of a post-apocalypse still stands on its own as a dark and hopeful book. His landscapes and art are sumptuous despite the empty world it portrays.

System Preference - It’s definitely similar to Bienvenu’s film Arco from last year, but System Preference is a singular sci-fi graphic novel in style and substance. It’s wonderfully European, colorful, and poignant by the end.

Ordinary - Focusing on the only man in the world without superpowers is a great concept and it leads to some amazing character designs and action-packed art. It definitely could’ve been longer as it’s a bit rushed but it still makes for a fun three issues.

Huge Detective - This recent comic is a murder mystery in a world where humans and giants coexist. The worldbuilding is efficient and the plot is really interesting, especially the mental patient convinced he’s a giant. I heard a bit of buzz about this book when it came out so I’m hopefully there could be a continuation down the line.

Huge Detective

Really interesting concept and it really works. It’s kind of part dystopia, part noir, part sci-fi. Well done team. Don’t sleep on this one

When we sent the pitch to the publishers, I ended up using a color scheme and finish that I wasn't 100% happy with, but since I knew that if it was approved I would have time to adjust it, I ended up sending it anyway.

When we closed the deal with @titancomics I decided to rework the drawings as well. I improved the details and enhanced the faces, elements, and finishes.

I was able to test some things like this completely red panel, using a more graphic style in the narrative.

Couple years ago the style of Gyant was really different. It went from super hero to fantasy.

It is new comic book day, and I got my hands on @tomking_tk @bilquis and @matheus Supergirl: woman of tomorrow in this handy new compact edition.

Also finally managed to pick up Huge Detective from @shazamcap and @magentaking , which looks like a wonderfully unique bit of storytelling.

What are you reading?
