Wine caves, vineyard views, long dinners, and the kind of weekend that reminds you why the details matter.

Full weekend guide coming soon. In the meantime, I’m linking the pre-trip planning post: how we mapped out the stay, tastings, dinner reservations, and the little things that made the weekend feel easy once we arrived.

Birthday photo dump: sausage making class, working at the shop, and cuddles with a college bestie who drove down from PDX to celebrate. My bucket is full and I’m grateful and excited for what adventures come this year! Cheers to 42!

KYOTO, 2009. I was a college sophomore when my mom and I flew to Japan to visit my uncle in Osaka. It wasn’t my first time in Japan, but it was the first time I felt the country as an adult, less Hello Kitty and Sailor Moon, more captivated by the food and the fashion on the street.

By then I’d likely been four or five times. Since the early ’90s, two of my mom’s brothers had been living and teaching there, and she adored them both and wanted to show up for them, so she brought me along. Some of my clearest memories: learning the choreography of a tea ceremony, being gifted my first kimono at 12, singing along to Japanese boy bands, and mastering chopsticks at six.

That is the gift my mother gave me; curiosity, reverence, and a sense of belonging in the world. It’s the same gift my husband and I are working to give our children.

For the past eight years of traveling internationally with two little ones, I’ve poured hours into planning, forecasting, and scheduling with one goal: protect the wonder. I’ve learned a lot, and I’m ready to share.

Sorry, not sorry!! 🥂Because travel isn’t one-size-fits-all! It’s silk sheets and sleeping bags.

What’s your version of “luxury” when you travel?

Paris, 2011 🇫🇷

I was in my early twenties, wandering through Montparnasse with my mom. We were just two explorers at heart, cameras in hand, chasing beauty in ordinary corners. I didn’t know then that this would be our last international trip together. She passed in 2022, but I still feel her presence every time I travel, in the way I pause to take a photo, or linger over a café table just a little longer.

Traveling with her taught me that exploration isn’t just about seeing the world; it’s about creating a map of shared memories that outlive us both. 🌍❤️
