August intentions. 🌿

Workout #2 of the month is done, and I’m setting a goal of 20 workouts before we flip the calendar to September.

Not because I have to.
Because I get to.

My coach says something often that has really stayed with me: we get to move our bodies while so many people would give anything for that opportunity.

So this month, I’m choosing gratitude over guilt.

I’m choosing to meet my body where it is each day instead of wishing it was somewhere else.

Some days that might look like lifting heavy. Some days it might be an easy run, a walk, mobility work, or simply showing up and doing what I can.

No comparing.
No punishing.
No chasing someone else’s pace.

Just honoring the body God gave me and training it with consistency, kindness, and purpose.

HYROX Boston is only two months away, and every workout is one small vote for the person I’m becoming.

Here’s to an August of showing up, one workout, one choice, one day at a time. 🤍

Training like a girl. 💙

Specifically… a woman in her 40s.

People love to tell women our age to slow down.

I think we need to train smarter—not smaller.

Recovery matters more. Sleep matters more. Protein matters more. Stress management matters more.

But muscle?

Muscle matters more than ever.

After about 30, we gradually begin losing muscle unless we actively build it. Muscle is one of the strongest predictors of healthy aging. It protects our bones, supports our metabolism, improves insulin sensitivity, and is linked to better brain health as we age. Strength training is also one of the best things we can do to help maintain bone density and reduce our risk of osteoporosis.

So yes… I want to look good naked.

I want to feel strong when I catch my reflection.

I want to pick up my nieces and nephews without thinking twice. I want to haul paddleboards, move furniture into my lake house, hike mountains, and get up off the floor without making it an event. Iykyk

And if I’m being completely honest?

I feel stronger, fitter, more confident, and more at home in my body TODAY than I did in my 20s or 30s.

Not because I’m chasing youth.

Because I’m building a body that will carry me through the next 40 years.

That’s what I’m training for.

And somehow… the abs are just becoming a really nice side effect. 💙

(P.S. I do have one relay spot left on my Boston HYROX team, and registration for the December races opens soon. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to do something that scares you a little… this might be it.)

The garden of yoga. 🌸🌸🌸
In the summer I spend hours tending my gardens. And just recently I became aware of the parallels between my yoga practice and gardening . || 😊👍
Or maybe it can be true that the same parallels are the same for : walking , eating ,even driving . 🚙??
Anything that allows us to be aware of what is going on in the present is a valuable practice of mindfulness.
🤔- hmmmmm . Is it yoga?
And mindful practices can help create a bit of peace in a frantic world.🌏 —- how does that happen??
The practice of mindfulness has the quality of being in the now, which can bring a sense of freedom, of perspective, of being connected … not judging
Maybe making space in a small parcel of real estate of the mind to experience joy . 🤩
Like everything else in life my garden has cycles.
✅planning
✅planting
✅blooming
In between there is: weeding, watering and pruning.
( tending =tapas 👍) 😥
Judith Lasater ( yoga teacher and author) says “ a better way to understand tapas is to think of it as consistency in going towards your goals “
So if our goal is to have a happy , healthy garden then consistent tending and pruning will keep my plants thriving.
In my practice I’m learning to listen to what shows up in the moment and I’m trying to let go of what’s not serving. Making space for something that does . Like the spent flower makes space for new buds.
Gardening , like my practice is where I can feed my body and soul. And on my mat or my hands in the dirt.. there is no place else to be but in that here and now. 🌸🌸 🧘‍♂️
If you have stayed to read or watch the video - thanks for dropping by. And some of my technical efforts I’m still learning 🙏💖💖

I’ve tagged a few family and friends that have encouraged me through my time on IG or in the garden of life - which is the human experience. Helping me to learn and grow .. dust off the dirt and many times start again - on the mat and off.
To my IG yoga friends- blessings beyond measure to you and #happyinternationalyogaday 😊

You know that friend…

The one who can spot danger from 100 feet away.
The one who catches the falling toddler before anyone else notices.
The one who always has snacks, Band-Aids, and a backup plan.

Yep. That’s the Momma Bear friend. 🐻😂

Apparently my reflexes don’t take vacations, because the second I saw that monkey making a move, I swooped in and saved the stuffed animal without even thinking.

Some instincts never turn off.

Tag the Momma Bear in your friend group. You know exactly who she is. 👇🏼 🐻

Yesterday we rode horses through a jungle, shot class III rapids in a canyon, zipped over a river gorge, soaked in volcanic hot springs, and covered ourselves in volcanic mud.

And somehow the car ride home was everyone’s favorite part.

That tells you everything you need to know about this group.

We work hard. Genuinely, quietly, consistently hard. The kind of hard that doesn’t always make the highlight reel. And somewhere in the middle of all that building — it’s easy to start working so hard toward the life that you forget to actually live it.

That’s what yesterday was about.

Not a reward. A recalibration.

A reminder that the joy, the connection, the surrender to something bigger than your to-do list — that’s not what you get after the work. That IS the work. That’s what we’re building toward. That’s what we’re building together.

I get to be the one who builds the container. But yesterday? They filled it with everything. And I was right there in it with them.

And now we get to hold each other to this. To say — remember Costa Rica? Remember the canyon? Remember the car ride home? — when the grind starts to drown out the good stuff again.

That’s what community is for. That’s what this is for.

Pura vida. 🌿

“Do hard shit. Not because it’s fun. But because the win actually means something. You bled for it. You broke for it. You earned it. Easy wins are forgettable. Hard ones change you. That’s the point.”

I have a whole career’s worth of evidence that this is true.

I was a school counselor. I went to grad school for it. I was supposed to stay in that lane.

And then I didn’t.

I walked away from the credential, the title, the pension, the plan — and I trust-fell into building something online as a fitness and wellness coach. And I fell on my face. A lot. More times than I talk about publicly.

But I kept going. And somewhere in the middle of the sweat equity and the hard seasons and the moments where I genuinely didn’t know if it was going to work —
It worked.

Not because it was easy. Because it wasn’t.

That’s why I’m training for Hyrox at 46.

Not because running 8 kilometers and pushing a 225-pound sled sounds like a good time. But because I know what happens to a woman on the other side of a hard-earned win. I’ve lived it. And I want every woman in this group to live it too.

👉 Swipe through — every run, every station, broken down so nothing surprises you on race day.

The Hyrox Training Collective is still open. Six months of structured, women-specific training built for women navigating real life — perimenopause, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain, injury, kids, full-time jobs, a farm (🤭), a business, all of the above.

We train around your life, not instead of it.

If December feels far away and this feels hard — that’s exactly the right time to start.

Comment TRAIN below and I’ll send you everything. 🔥

When I first saw HYROX I thought, “that looks fun as hell”…

immediately followed by “absolutely not.” 😅

Because midlife bodies don’t get thrown back into high-performance training the way we were taught in our 20s—and I’m not interested in breaking myself again to prove anything.

But I am interested in training with intention, fueling my body properly, building real strength and endurance, and doing something that feels challenging and fun again.

So that’s what I’m doing.

I’m taking everything I’ve learned over 25 years in the fitness world and applying it in a way that actually works—for me, and for women who want to do this the right way.

And I’m bringing others with me.

If you’ve been feeling that nudge—like you want something to train for, something that pushes you in a good way—this might be it.

We’re breaking it all down on Sunday.

Comment HYROX or message me and I’ll send you the details and zoom link or recording!

You don’t have to feel ready—you just have to be willing to find out what you’re still capable of. 💪🏼 💦

For over a decade, I led monthly “challenge groups.”
Fitness, nutrition, accountability… you name it.
But over time, they became pressure-filled, one-size-fits-all cycles — and I watched so many women (myself included) burn out.

So I stopped.
And I created The Protein Project as something completely different.

This group is my commitment to doing it better —
🌿 Rooted in hormone health
🧠 Focused on education and nervous system safety
💛 Centered on individuality, nourishment, and support

After 12+ years as a fitness and nutrition professional, I tapped into everything I’ve learned — and wove it into the Hugh & Grace ecosystem. Because clean, effective, non-toxic products matter when your hormones are in flux and your body’s calling for help.

I use just two products inside this group:
✨ Triple Boost Protein + Hormone Support
✨ Marine Collagen Peptides

Together, they give you 26g of clean, third-party-tested protein with ingredients that work with your body — not against it.

This isn’t a diet.
It’s not a challenge.
It’s a shift toward healing, strength, and clarity.

Prep week starts July 1.
Round 2 kicks off July 7.
Comment PROTEIN or DM me for the details.

Let’s fuel your body for the life you actually want to live.

✨I didn’t expect to fall in love with… protein.
But here we are. 😍

More energy. Fewer cravings. Less of that foggy, snacky, “what even sounds good?” feeling.
I’m telling you—once you start consistently fueling with protein, it changes everything.

And that’s exactly why we launched The Protein Project:
Not a challenge. Not a diet.

Just 21 days of education, accountability, and delicious protein-rich habits that support your hormones, your energy, and your real life.

We’ve got a fresh group starting, and I promise—you don’t need to be perfect, you just need to be curious.

🫶🏼 If you’ve been wondering what all the hype is about, or what’s actually helping women feel better in their 40s+…
This is it.

Let me know if you want in before we kick off next week 💛
