We are thrilled to be working with editor and educator Gerrie van Noord (@gerrievannoord) on the upcoming @praksistab Future Futures publication 💥Tonight, our youth board meets Gerrie again for a working session.

Gerrie brings deep experience from the worlds of art, curating, and publishing—especially where they overlap. She’s edited influential books on curatorial practice like Not Going It Alone: Collective Curatorial Curating (2024), Curious (2024), Kathrin Böhm: Art on the Scale of Life (2023). Her work focuses on collaboration and how books can be more than documentation: spaces for dialogue, reflection, and doing things together.

The publication is part of Future Futures: Reaching out—a cross-border project supported by @erasmusplussungdom. It brings together three youth boards: @praksistab (Oslo), @indexfoundation’s Teen Advisory Board (Stockholm), and @publicsfi Youth (Helsinki). Together, we’re asking what publishing can be today: a tool for expression, activism, and reaching out—through zines, artist books, risographs, and more.

The Oslo team is part of the Young Curators Mentorship, a three-year programme by @praksisoslo and @nitja_senter_for_samtidskunst under the PRAKSIS Youth umbrella. Through regular workshops and mentoring, we’re gaining hands-on experience in curating, production, and publishing. In early 2026, we’ll share the results.

Next up: meeting designer and publisher @tuukkakaila from @rooftoppress in late June!

📸 Images from the Saturday’s youth exploits: meeting Deichmann curator @kaspartu at the NK50 show @norskekunsthandverkere; and @fashionresearchlibrary at Nasjonalmuseet. Thank you!

Thanks to @sparebankstiftelsendnb and @erasmusplussungdom for making this possible.

ILFR S/S 2025! As an active research center, we continue to invite guest researchers to intervene in and grapple with our ever-evolving permanent collection & extended programming. This season we’ve hosted seven selected guest researchers who have had room to develop their own practices in the context of @fashionresearchlibrary, in part thanks to the Erasmus+ Learning Agreements.

Post Press #8: On Archiving 'The Fashioned Body' by our guest researcher @sheeroeting. In your inbox now!

"The arrival of Joanne Entwistle’s The Fashioned Body at the International Library of Fashion Research prompted me to reflect on the broader dynamics that intertwine fashion, the body, and the role of the archive. I had suggested the book for the permanent collection, recognising it as a foundational text in the discipline of fashion studies and one that continues to shape how I think about the ways fashion produces meaning, and how institutions like ILFR participate in those systems through what they choose to preserve and give access to. Entwistle argues that clothing isn't just something we wear, but a fundamental part of how our bodies are socially perceived and understood. We don’t simply get dressed, we prepare ourselves to be seen. In Entwistle’s view, the "fashioned body" is not a neutral or natural entity; rather, it is shaped – literally and symbolically – through the act of dressing. Clothing doesn’t simply cover the body; it constructs it as a social and cultural object, embedded in relations of meaning, power, and identity."

International Library of Fashion Research is excited to welcome our new guest researcher, @sheeroeting. Shee Lily Roeting is currently studying Art History and Fashion Studies at the University of Ghent in Belgium. She previously worked as a researcher at MoMu Antwerp, where she gained experience in archival research, conservation, and curatorial practices. Her academic interests center on fashion history and theory, with a particular focus on the intersections between fashion, identity, and visual culture. Her current research explores how digital culture and online visual practices shape contemporary understandings of gender, fashion, and bodily practice. Her work draws on theories of gender performativity, fashion semiotics, and contemporary visual culture to analyze how fashion is used to negotiate and express identity in the digital age. Roeting also has a longstanding interest in the Antwerp fashion scene, informed by both her work at MoMu and her academic research. She examines how the city’s fashion culture has been shaped by its avant-garde legacy and influential institutions, and how this local context engages with broader debates on identity and the politics of dress.
