It's been a busy few weeks here at Radmash! As well as our September community meal @mumsunitedsheffield - featuring new faces and recipes as ever - we also served food at several events including Visions festival hosted by @sheftransformed, @sheffield.lifttheban monthly meeting, and a letter writing session hosted by the No Palantir campaign. 📢🔥 ROYAL HALLAMSHIRE HOSPITAL DEMONSTRATION - INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST PALANTIR ✊🪧 On the 1st October, as part of the #InternationalDayOfActionAgainstPalantir, patients, NHS workers, and activists across England are taking action to demand that our leaders add to the collective and growing voice calling for the government to end the NHS's contract with #Palantir. Medact Sheffield and the No Palantir in the NHS South Yorkshire campaign are coordinating a number of actions throughout the day, including a demo outside of the front of the Royal Hallamshire Hospital for health workers and patients to attend. We are demanding that our local trust and ICB executives explicitly #BackTheBreakClause and call upon NHS England and the UK Government to end Palantir's involvement in the NHS. Details about the demo are as follows:  📍Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Grassy verge where Beech Hill Road meets Glossop Road. 📅Thurs 1st October 4pm - 5.30pm 💌 Following the demonstration, there will also be an MP letter writing session at Raccoon Studios (4 Exchange St, S2 5TS) between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, where people can attend to design and write handwritten postcards and/or letters to send to their MPs demanding the same. A 3-month deadline for the government to give notice on exercising the contract's break clause in February 2027 is due at some point around November; therefore, we are approaching a now-or-never crunch time for the campaign, needing our leaders to speak out now before it is too late! The full programme for our Building Worker Power event on 25 July 2026! Sessions will cover: ~Build Your Fantasy Union~ To begin the day, we'll introduce ourselves and talk about the challenges we face in our different workplaces. We'll discuss what our ideal trade union would look like, how it would need to be structured, and what it would need to do to meet these challenges. ~Getting Organised~ In the second session, we'll tackle some workplace organising scenarios and talk about how we build collective power from the ‘shop floor’ upwards. ~Connecting Workplace and World~ After lunch, we’ll discuss how we can introduce broader politics into our trade union branches, organising and workplaces. We’ll use three issues – environmentalism, anti-racism and international solidarity – as case studies. ~Next Steps~ In our final session, we’ll go over the key ideas and plans that have come out of our conversations. Saturday 13th June - 11:30am - Sheffield Town Hall! This week the far right gathered across the North of Ireland and Britain, including here in Sheffield. In multiple locations these "protests" were just a smokescreen for racist and sectarian violence. In Belfast people's homes were set on fire, businesses had their windows smashed in, cars and public transport were torched. Two years ago we saw this violence in South Yorkshire when far-right rioters broke into and set fire to a hotel housing refugees in Rotherham. Now this Saturday here in Sheffield, the far right intends to gather and march on refugee accommodation. We must turn out, and turn out in force, to defend our city from these racist thugs.
