Your next photography business assistant might not be a person. It might be AI. And we’re not just talking about writing captions! On this week’s Get Your Shoot Together, Kira shares what happened when she started putting ChatGPT’s Dots to work on actual business tasks. We’re talking calendars, client communication, scheduling, emails, and what happens when AI starts thinking ahead. Of course, we also have Oregon wine, winery pigs, wedding chaos, travel stories, and a reminder that creativity still needs a little WOW. Because running a photography business should leave us more time to actually CREATE. Episode 202 is out now! Watch on YouTube or listen wherever you get your podcasts. It feels like I’ve been on the move a lot lately, and I love it! I’m learning all of the things and have been ridiculously inspired. My cup is still very full. 🤗 Last week’s field trip took me to Miami, where Jesus Cabrera assembled a wonderful panel of female leaders in our industry for the Voices of Leadership Summit. Thanks to @avcstore for hosting! We heard from: @angelatalentinokurkian, CEO of @ourppa @ahardingphotography, president of @aspexcellence Virginia Carroccio, Palm Beach Guild past president @susanmichal, PPA past president Mikayla Jade Harris, current PPA president @shekira, PPA past president So many great and relevant conversations, from business and artistry to leadership and standing out. So grateful to be part of a community that shares what it knows, lifts one another up, and raises the tide for all. ❤️

This week on Get Your Shoot Together, Kira and I are talking about something I think a lot of photographers need right now: A marketing reset. Not just posting more. Actually stepping back and looking at: — What are you really selling? — Are you communicating the value clearly? — Do you have a path from trust to booking? — Are you using your clients’ questions and concerns as content? — Are you building relationships or just constantly chasing new leads? — And what should your next 90 days of marketing actually look like? I’m also sharing some of the things we’re testing in our own studio right now, including Headshot Happy Hour and a different approach to relationship marketing. And yes… there is also Halloween, Elphaba and green face paint. Because it’s us. 🎧 Marketing Reset for Photographers: Storytelling, Funnels, and Video Content Watch or listen through the link in my bio. And photographers — follow the Get Your Shoot Together Facebook page too. We’re starting to share free exercises, assignments and practical content there so you can actually implement what we’re talking about on the podcast. If you’re enjoying the show, please follow, like and leave us a comment. And tell us what you want Kira and me to tackle next. #GetYourShootTogether #PhotographyMarketing #PhotographyBusiness #PhotographerEducation #PhotographyPodcast @getyourshoottogether @shekira

MONDAYS ARE FOR BADDASS WOMEN. 💋 Another moment for Sarah Doolin Roy, Tallahassee Woman Magazine’s newest 2026 Cover Woman! From her early days as a principal dancer with The Tallahassee Ballet to a career on the global stage, Sarah’s story is one of discipline, ambition, leadership and GRIT. One of our favorite takeaways from her feature? Her philosophy of “grit with grace,” and the belief that success comes from consistency and practice. THAT is the kind of BADDASS woman we love celebrating around here. 💗 We were honored to be part of Sarah’s cover glam and love seeing women with Tallahassee roots doing incredible things! 200 EPISODES. That number feels a little surreal. Kira and I have spent 200 episodes talking about the real business of being a professional photographer—the wins, the mistakes, marketing, money, clients and everything that happens behind the pretty pictures. For Episode 200, we’re talking about a $46,000 portrait sale. But the real conversation is bigger than the number. It’s about customer service. Relationships. Trust. Experience. And creating extraordinary value for your clients. After decades in this business, I still believe the experience you create around your work matters every bit as much as the work itself. I’m incredibly proud that Get Your Shoot Together has reached 200 episodes. Go watch Episode 200 on YouTube. You wanted to be a photographer. Then suddenly you were also the marketing department, bookkeeper, tech support, and CEO. And somewhere along the way, you decided you should already know how all of it works. In Episode 199, Kira and Mary talk about the business questions we’re still figuring out, including the money stuff we probably should have asked about sooner. What’s one thing you wish someone had explained when you started? #GetYourShootTogether #PhotographyBusiness #CreativeEntrepreneur #SmallBusinessOwner
