“This past weekend, I took a day trip to Mendoza, Argentina which was my first time solo-traveling and traveling outside of Chile while studying here. I have been very focused on my studies and personal goals this semester, so this was a welcome, and fortunately affordable adventure. I decided to make the day all about my photography hobby.

I decided to visit Plaza Independencia along with the four surrounding plazas and Parque Independencia.

I was so happy with the weather, the hospitality, the beautiful city, and the opportunity to make it out to Argentina.” -Shelby Suppiger, UC Berkeley, Fourth Year, Gender & Women’s Studies Major 💙💛

This past weekend students in UC-Chile & UCh semester programs traveled to San Vicente de Tagua Tagua, a small town in the O’Higgins region that is filled with HUGE pieces of prehistoric natural history! 🤩

From discovering Pueblo Zúñiga, a place that has continuously preserved its colonial history, where plenty of community leaders keep their traditions alive. To the Tagua Tagua Monster, who *spoiler alert* was actually a Gomphothere, an extinct group of mammals closely related to elephants 🐘
And the Cuchipuy cemetery, where actual graves, with proper burial rituals were discovered dating back to 12,000 years ago can all be found in the same location. 🪦

So much was learned and new friendships were made!

Thank you to @shelbysuppiger for some of these pictures! 💙💛
