You’ve made us stronger, better, and ever more grateful for the privilege of serving and sharing. In a world where image is everything, and a thousand words can’t match a single IG picture, there is only one term that truly sums it all up: blessings.

Dang, coulda used Mr. Vegas’s « Blessings » as the soundtrack to this post, but had to go Bird as a tribute to 🍅

Entre deux bouillons du quotidien;
juste le temps pour un sourire angoissé puis une coupe de vin avec les copains.

Voir sans remarquer.

Au moins demain on se réveillera dimanche.

Drink champagne & burgundy;

with your people.

Nothing greater.

On aime rigoler.

On aime la Culture.

On aime AIMER.

Come hang with us.

Have a nice glass of wine (or two) and a comforting plate of food.

Island Vibes and warmth guaranteed – even in October.

(Somehow my friends keep reminding me that Ile-Bizard, the western-most island of my youth, is not technically part of the West-Indies. Wait. What?)

One take vids ain’t for the faint of heart.

White Beyoncé ™ was our « videographer ».

(Enunciation is a must. My pops preached this all through my teens.)

The full expression is: « Man a fly eeeeeeeen. »

The acapella songs performed herein are 3 stone cold classics:

« Ring The Alarm » Tenor Saw

« Trying to Get to You » Richie Stephens

« Ebony & Ivory » Stevie & Sir Paul

Recorded post late-night LeMeac flex.

Highly recommended pro move whenever in the hood.

À bientôt!

I'm extremely lucky to have siblings that I can depend on—thick and thin. Even when we drive each other nuts, we roll together hard.

This guy here? He's been my road dog, protector, confidant, selecta, reggae sensei (and I, his secretary 😂) from jump. There is nothing I won't do for this dude. Love ya, big bro!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY @sheldonlovezone! 🎂 🎉 💋 🧡

SPRAGGA!

Was gonna write a long caption about how much the « Game » (the dub part of it at least) has changed (not for the better) over the last 3 decades plus of interacting slash operating within it…

Plus, the creativity we’ve always exercised as a tandem ( yours truly & @sheldonlovezone ) since linking up at a house party/Block-O in the West-Island of Montréal in the early nineties…

And how @spraggabenz3 has always been in our personal top 5 for lyrical delivery, cadence and presence…

But I decided to let the clip do to talking.

Much love to @silas_short for the updated instrumental of the iconic « My Conversation » riddim. Yup, we jacked that beat. Cleanest and « toughest » version of it we could find.

Check out the artist’s rendition of Slim Smith’s classic. It’s rather lovely. 🔥

Shoutout @soundagodead for posting said clip and documenting sound system culture to the world. An integral and important part of the broader Reggae culture not always given proper respect and often taken for granted by industry actors and patrons alike. Granted, less than noble motives such as self-aggrandizement and ego play a part in dub culture, but there’s so much more behind the passion that should be underlined and celebrated.

BiG uP @dainjamental_dpk for the quality work, as per his now well-established M.O. The modern day Don 1 of NYC. Salute!

Oh, lest we forget Singy Singy @tarrusrileyja for bringing the vibe in the booth. A solid wingman, even when not in full-collab mode, can often elevate and inspire. Dub works 101. « Learn the style before you use it », as my old friend Dufton Taylor, AKA, @tonymatterhorn4 used to say.

ReGgaE fOreVer.

Un beau livre mérite un bon café.

L’art de vivre c’est la Culture.

We fancy ourselves a Cultural hub, of sorts…

It’s a pleasure today to salute @walshyfire

Someone who has inspired us along the way with his unique Style & Pattern.

Via passion creativity and hustle, Walsh keeps spreading (the) Culture after many years in the game. We aspire to do the same at the shop with every bottle of wine we sell.

Plus, we have a shared family history to boot.

This wonderful freshly released tome Chock full o’CULTURE will look wondrous (p)on your coffee table (à la Cosmo Kramer), impress your friends, and pair wondrously with your beverage of choice.

Don’t know much about Dancehall?

Any interest in humanity, literature, marketing, art, music or history is reason enough to get a copy. Did I mention it looks cool?

Ask for it at a local independent bookstore near you.

It’s dope.

Culture begets mo’ Culture.

Culture is universal.

Dancehallminded fi life.

Bon dimanche à tous.

Salute @walshyfire 🙌🏻

Gave thanks for 50 years of life in March with a whirlwind celebratory month filled with Love, a humbling number of incredible moments rooted in nostalgia, the best emotions and experiences life has to offer, and many of the humans who inspired, shaped, supported, enabled, encouraged, and guided yours truly throughout my first five decades of life.

Started this sojourn through music as a teen, so at this point I consider myself a LIFER. I’ve spent more of my life, seventy percent of it in fact, in a relationship with music/DJ/sound/record/vinyl/dub culture than my time outside of that reality.

As my precious life partner often likes to point out, Dom be the living embodiment of the duality of MAN. Humble to my core, but cocksure (ha!) AF. Coming up in a (chosen) cultural environment other than my own, I had to earn respect throughout the journey. Truth be told, it wasn’t hard. Passion did the heavy lifting with kind generous peers and mentors alike providing the rest.

As I came into my own, I figured it was just me, Rodi, and Bobby? The white boy selector HOF. Ha! Not to mention, I was in the trenches, yO. Dat soundman life; dates outta road, clash life, etc. MTL, baby. Hard Knocks U. The city of gunshots and one gazillion sound systems.

Don’t remember how I met up with Richard and André but it was a vibe from jump and my respect for both of them didn’t take long to manifest. I’ll never forget going to pre-record a radio show at André’s home studio many years back and seeing all these flyers for MTL dances in the 80’s. Wait, whut? I was in diapers and these kats were already checking out Josey Wales and Stur Gav in apartment complex basements, Peter Tosh in concert, and moving about Yard like I roamed the West-Island? Humble pie is a very filling dessert. Maaan, then social media came in and it turns out there’s a bunch of white boys who love Reggae and even a few hundred of ‘em with a dub box. The dream is over. I’m now old enough to know, we’re never as grand as we may imagine ourselves to be, and more importantly there are very few ORIGINALS out there, so let me salute and celebrate two such persons accordingly:

Richard & André, aka, Le DJ Masqué

Lifelong curators of the culture. Straight!

Not saying we were the first to voice the entire riddim pon dub (maybe I kinda am ; ) — and we still bought the records.

(Two copies for da mix of course.)

Looking forward to dropping these on our next @ckutmusic @ckutmtl set.

We’re even pressing the dub versions on 45 records to boot bringing back that old time dubplate juggling vibe.

Old school, baby. For the children. Always.

Hard earned bucks spent where our passion BE — circa our teenage years.

Right @sheldonlovezone

Much ❤️ to @protoje @lilaike @jazelise @callmesevana @naomicowan for the quality and vintage vibrations.

LZ, son. Custodians and curators until the end of time.
