Today marks 6 years of Cult Studios. 🩷

Six years of lockdowns, babies, expansions, chronic illness, becoming a single mum, and a whole lot of things I never could have planned for.

One of my biggest lessons has been that you can be too accommodating. I spent a long time trying to make Cult work for everyone else, creating opportunities and bending over backwards to keep people happy, until I ended up with a business that didn’t feel like mine anymore.

By the beginning of this year, I resented it all so much that I genuinely wanted to walk away. I’m so grateful to Chris (best decision I’ve made to go in to business with him!) for helping me see a version of Cult that I actually wanted to be part of again, and to Jess, Alex, Shell and Issa for building this next chapter with me. It’s the best version yet, and the one I always wanted it to be. 🖤

A huge thank you to my clients, especially those who’ve stuck with me through self-employment, lockdowns, maternity leave, health struggles and all the changes along the way. Thank you for your patience, flexibility and loyalty, and to everyone discovering us now, too. You make it possible for me to do something I love while providing for my little family, and I never take that for granted.

I’m very good at looking back and focusing on everything I’ve got wrong, so today I want to acknowledge that I’m really proud of myself.

I’ve kept this business going through some genuinely difficult years while living with chronic illness and raising twins on my own. It pays the bills, puts a roof over our heads, and has stayed true to my values. I don’t think I give myself enough credit for that.

My health and my kids come first now, so Cult has to come third. I want to build something that fits the life I actually have, with people who want to build it alongside me, rather than running myself into the ground trying to keep everyone else happy.

And for the first time in a while, that feels possible.

Six years of Cult Studios. A lot of lessons, a lot of feelings, and a lot to be grateful for.

I’m really fucking glad I didn’t set a match to the whole thing and walk away. 😂🩷
