Many Thanks to @shelleyhol and @latimesimage for including CJG Gallery Director Ever Velasquez in Shelley’s “Guide to the places that make LA’s art scene”.

Ever is indeed the star of the show at the gallery and we’re delighted that she and the gallery are a part of this really thoughtful piece about the places that make LA special.

Brava Ever! Brava Shelley!

Really grateful to be included in Shelley Holcomb’s thoughtful guide to the L.A. art scene for @latimesimage 🙏🏽🔥

“I love the way his work draws me into a layered dreamscape and rearranges my sense of time and space. Greg is also a great storyteller. Pulling from archival family photos and childhood memories as a fourth-generation Angeleno in West L.A., his work weaves together a certain kind of nostalgia that always makes for a heartfelt studio visit.”

Shelley and I spent some time together at the studio talking about memories, life experiences, and our relationship to time as we continue moving through life.

Having grown up in L.A. and being a fourth-generation Angeleno, it feels especially meaningful to be part of this reflection on the people and places that make this city’s art community so special.

Thank you, Shelley, for taking the time to visit, talk, and really look at the work. And thank you @latimesimage for sharing it. ❤️

"An art scene isn't held up by pristine white walls," Shelley Holcomb tells us. "It's built by the artists sharing a cig and an idea outside on the sidewalk." For our September issue, the @curate.la co-founder maps her ultimate L.A. art weekend from private studio visits to a Watts Towers pilgrimage. Find the full guide at the link in bio.

Shelley Holcomb knows a good L.A. weekend is crafted carefully: a few parts gallery hopping, a surprise reunion at an opening night, some good bites and heavy pours at the wine bar down the block. The @curate.la co-founder has been guiding Angelenos to the coolest exhibits and art spaces for the past 12 years, decoding the city’s creative sprawl one neighborhood at a time.

For our September issue, Holcomb treats us to her list of places, people and plates worth your visit as you plan your own tour of the city’s never-ending artistic maze.

+1 year of living! 🎂

Okay last year was such a push, I felt myself returning these questions often: “what is it all for?, and do you even like this?”

When I was a kid I watched my first ballet and something literally pulsed inside of me. I was an awe of people moving their bodies and being creative for a living. I tried everything, I danced, I wrote fiction, I dabbled in photography, production, experience design, etc. etc.

Looking at my life now I am feeling more like the woman I’ve always wanted to be become everyday, and that’s a blessing! I get to surround myself with people doing better than me, woman that I’m in awe of, & lovers that cherish me. I feel blessed this year and little bby jaade would be very proud xx
