Great Review from @thegeekauthority. Congrats, Grave Mistakes!! 🙏🎭 Stage Comedy Of The Hysterical Ghostly Kind - A Pure Delight SkyPilot Theatre presents “Grave Mistakes” at the LACAE Theatre in North Hollywood - written by Ben Abbott and running August 7th to August 30th, Frid. and Sat. at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM. It’s a play that will surprise you and make you laugh at the not-so-obvious Haunted-House tropes! Wonderfully directed by Jonathan Fahn (assisted by Karen Brundage), it’s about a book editor named Ray (Dylan Bowers) quietly falling for his author Molly (Shelly Snellman). Struggling to meet a book deadline, confusion and haunting become apparent as the landlord, Lori (Marie Pettit) who is not so nice to anyone - surprises everyone with her intentions. Throw in two ghosts, Eloise (Marjorie Scott) and Bob (Chris Durmick) a wild friend Jess (Kelsey Dougherty) and the strangest ghost hunter Guy (Jon Paul Burkhart) and you have the comedy makings of an old attic being turned into literally a Ghost-filled tourist attraction. Marie Pettit just rides her fun evil energy and comic timing to the hilt while Kelsey Dougherty gives the hysterical sarcastic commentary on what is real or not. Dylan Bowers and Shelly Snellman together give a fun charming cat’n’mouse play while realizing their feelings are truly blooming. Chris Durmick is smart and quick-witted as he deals with a 1900’s headstrong deceased lady - Marjorie Scott. Throw in a nerdy but clearly ghost-wise Jon Paul Burkhart as you round off this comedy troupe of talented performers. The production design by Shelby Janes is cleverly authentic while props and costuming by Tudi Roche gave the whole piece a reality that fit the entire ambiance of the story. Add the timely lighting design by Zachary Seaton Lewis and pitch perfect sound design (and music too) of Astrid Becker-Byrd and it’s a formula for some slapstick fun! With nods to Star Wars, Star Trek and even Captain Eo! Don’t miss this hysterical, spooky - with a fun and big heart - theatrical performance that will keep you smiling and laughing throughout.
