@drjesstaylor ’s story is not an anomaly – it’s a warning.

After speaking out about victim-blaming, she describes being targeted by coordinated online gangs: doxxing, hacking, threats, and smear campaigns that destroyed her safety and mental health.

Yet our laws still treat stalking as a “lone perpetrator, offline” crime. Victims of networked, digital mob harassment are routinely dismissed, disbelieved, or labelled mentally ill, while perpetrators operate with near-total impunity.

This has to change. We need:

📌Legal recognition of group and networked stalking

📌Clear duties for platforms to prevent and act on coordinated abuse

📌Police training and powers to investigate digital mobs

📌Real protection for victims, not gaslighting

If this resonates, don’t just scroll.

Online gang stalking is violence. It’s time the law caught up.

STAY SHARP.
STAY HUMAN.
STAY STREETWISE.

The English and Welsh court systems have loopholes that enable stalkers to keep harassing their targets despite a conviction and a restraining order against them.

Perpetrators can apply up to four times a year to have an indefinite restraining order revoked. This involves a distressing court process for the victim, who receives the perpetrator’s application letter. The application can be used to maintain contact and continue abuse, allowing perpetrators to harass victims through the very system that is in place to protect them.

A target of stalking who was the subject of repeated vexatious applications lobbied her
MP for help to change the system. Karen Buck MP took up the call for change with the Minister for Justice and the Criminal Procedure Rules committee.

Thanks to this action, as of
October 2023, the rules will be tightened: perpetrators will have to provide proof of material change between applications and include all previous applications, and the court will be able to dismiss any application that it deems to be vexatious. Those changes will make it harder for perpetrators to abuse the system and safer
for targets of stalking to put their trust in the justice system and report crime. #activism #stalking #crime #uklawchange #karenbuckmp #ministerforjustice #alexchalkmp
