Does the practice of criticism become so different when you write in different languages? This is the question we had in mind when we decided to visit, view, and write about art exhibitions together. Throughout March and April, each of us selected some shows (of our favorites, or of some significance) to review them together: one in Chinese, and the other in English. The rule? Don’t share our thoughts about the show with each other until we finish writing about it—which is probably the most difficult part of the game. One fair, two languages, and two entirely different sets of internal archives. We hope you enjoy the contrast.
