Just the best time...the BEST time was had a Silent Lake Provincial Park with my life-long friend @sherleeca There is something very special about a friendship in which the other person knows you from a time when you were trying to figure out who you are and filled with anticipation about what's ahead.
Not much has changed except the fact that we know ourselves a bit better. 😆 I don't get to see Sherry all the time but we spent four days together like we talk every day.
Setting up in the rain.
Coffee in the tent on my prized Jetboil.
Burgers on her bougie Coleman's.
Walks to the water's edge.
Sitting on the beach like women I used to watch when I was little...women who are filled with life and laughter and knowing and friendship.
We drove to the lake at midnight in our pajamas to see the moon and discovered the only warm-water comfort station bathrooms in the park.
Sherry bought us little boxes of cereal...like from olden times...and I had Corn Pops and Fruit Loops with almond milk...because times have indeed changed.
Fires at 4pm and then all night...watching Wayward as Sherry put logs on the fire.
Burnt Marshmellows.
Sherry bought all the food, planned the meals and fed us and warmed the campsite, we both built the site and maintained it and I packed up all my fave gear...including my PRIZED tent...and made the plans and even bought some new gear and drove us to Silent Lake...it was the PERFECT balance!
We both love to pack a car, watch a fire, chill and remember when we were in Wonderful Town in 1987.
It was a very wonderful week. Gratitude abounds!

It's been almost EXACTLY 40 years since @sherleeca and I met the first day of college...to the day!!!
We're celebrating by driving a few hours to set up a camp in the rain and then sleeping in a tent for a couple of days.
While we are VERY sad about Dolly Parton we're also very proud of our set up.
Two things at once.
Grateful.
NOTE: We still know all the words to "I Want It All" from Maltby and Shire's "Baby".

When it's rainy and you waited too long to air out your tent AND you don't want to start the upcoming camping week (!) with a wet or stinky tent. AND YES, I KNOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO RAIN NEARLY EVERYWHERE IN ONTARIO THIS WEEK!!! Back off Debbie Downers!!! #ingenuity #dundasconservationarea #forgivenessnotpermission

It was the best of times...it was the most challenging of times. No hyperbole.
I wrote.
I pitched.
I planned.
I moved to the states...twice...because best laid plans and all that.
I drove.
I drove.
I drove.
I packed.
I unpacked.
I walked.
I walked faster.
I climbed about a thousand hills...some physically and many metaphorical ones.
Life felt surreal, life felt real...life feels far too short.
I breathe.
I worried.
I cried.
I cried.
I yelled in joy.
I talked myself out of the koo koo tree.
I fell out of the koo koo tree.
I sold a show.
I wrote something that I can't sell.
I walked up the road to a friend's house every Saturday night for three months.
I saw people I've not see in years.
I met new people.
I missed home.
I missed my people.
I worked.
I worked.
I doubted.
I believed.
I believe.
I fell and pulverized my knee.
I realized some of my biggest fears were lies and that things I had not even considered were FAR bigger obstacles.
I stood onstage and moved into a stranger's house.
I counted every penny and still ended up accidentally ordering too much take out Chinese food...twice. (The first time was my first day in LA and the second time was today)
I got a PRS cheque from Mean Girls and immediately locked myself out of my apartment...with Jo inside.
I saw the sunset over the Colorado River.
I took Jo hiking in the Colorado Mountains.
So, yes...it was everything.
Oh, at least three times, I laughed so hard I peed.
I continue to dream, believe, hydrate, breathe, walk, heal, hope and work.
Who knows what might happen.
Happy New Year...here's to better times, easier climbs and delicious rhymes.
Also, I tagged no one...take a look, you just might find yourself in my BOOK OF LOVE. ❤️
I am so grateful for you all.
Not pictured due to distance...Patricia Zentill.
Also, thank god for Jo, in all her glory and challenge.

2024 was A LOT of writing (not pictured), hiking, family, friends, travel (far and near) and a return to the cabaret stage in the 11th hour.
Looking back over the year was joyous.
I'm so grateful that I LOVE taking pictures...scrolling was a pleasure and there's so much that is NOT in this shot.
Can't wait for a whole new year!

Today, @sherleeca and I traveled about eight hours round trip to eat our homemade sandwiches on the stone beach at Bruce Peninsula National Park.
What a day it was!
The weather was stunning. The sun was out. No bugs. The wind was warm.
As we sat on a makeshift bench of beach wood leaned on two rocks, left behind by some smart traveller, I proclaimed 100% happiness.
It's a rare friendship that can sustain eleven hours together after not seeing each other for months.
Love me some Sherry! FUN FACT: We were in The Sheridan Style together about three decades ago. IYKYK.
Thanks for being a sport for such a long drive and trip-hazard of a hike. ❤️🥾🍁🌲🌊 #hiker #ontario #nationalparks #gorgeous #yourstodiscover #roadtrip

2023 was a year of going to ground to make something new…about four times…wow…FOUR TIMES. I traveled to places I’ve never been, once with Jo to Manitoulin and Tobermory and the next with Patty to Redwood City and Yosemite (thank you John!). I hustled more than I have in many years and was better for it. I worked away on THREE projects that have already changed my life in ways I cannot even fathom yet…that no one else might ever see. I battled, I breathed, I dreamed, I was grateful…am grateful. I changed and I stayed exactly the same and did my very fucking best to meet both of these parts of me with an open heart and WIDE open eyes. I was alone. I was surrounded. I was 100% happy some days and at a loss others. I faced shit. I did things I wish I could change but try not to regret too much. I sang for reals for the first time in years and was pleasantly surprised to know that I still could AND that Il enjoyed how it felt. I worked almost every day on being present. Every. Damned. Day. I had more than a few days that were almost the very best of my life…both in work and in friendship. I won shit. I lost shit. I loved and loved and loved and said it out loud. What a year it’s been. There are one or two things that I WISHED I gotten pictures of…like the morning of my 55th birthday when Mike and I went for a walk with our dogs to the little park beside the Dufferin Arch and there was a band playing 80’s tunes in the park’s gazebo for absolutely no one but us…and about four days later when Patty, John and I were sitting outside his condo door eating breakfast in the California sun…and other moments that I cannot even remember right now. I’m so grateful for another year of life. I remain hopeful for what is to come. : ) Love to you all.

….and dear @fjallravenofficial #fjallravenpolar2024 as a little addition to my first submission, here is a little MORE VOICE OF MY LOCAL ENVIRONMENT!

And voices are always stronger when in harmony!

So here are the places near me that I visit for a forest bath AND the people who jump in with me.

While nature is splendid solo it’s nice to have a companion…furry and otherwise. : )

PICK ME!!!

And thanks to all my friends who venture forth beside me!! #challenge1
