What happens when you throw a group of passionate creatives together in paradise? You get late-night laughs, golden-hour shoots, too much coffee, and friendships that feel like they’ve been around forever. 🥂📸

It wasn’t just about learning. It was about filling our cups, connecting with like-minded souls, and remembering why we picked up our cameras in the first place.

👉 Tag your photography bestie — the one you’d jump on a plane with for the next adventure. 🌺

A photographer retreat like no other! When the opportunity popped up to go to another country with 8 other photographs I'd never even met, I didn't even hesitate! Yes, I was nervous, but was it worth it... hell yes! A million times, yes! 😍

I learnt so much valuable information I can bring into my own business and have come home with amazing forever friends.
Just being around like-minded women in the same business as your own is so uplifting and being able to talk about the up & downs of running a successful photography business in an encouraging space was just what I was needing.
We experienced amazing photoshoots. I can't wait to share! I even got to experience some underwater photography with our incredible mum to be model.

Although this Tassie girl didn't handle the heat of Bali too well 🥵I had the most incredible time and would definitely do it again 😅😃.

I discovered that learning a new currency fast is not my strong point, and I'm shit at bartering 😂
Scooters were wild but so fun!
Safety is optional, and apparently, so is a welding helmet 🫣

I've never travelled so far solo, but I ended up loving it!
My cup is overflowing with inspiration, happiest & gratitude🩷

One of the flagship activations under Kōpū is the new playspace for Whakatū. This partnership project between Ngā Iwi o Te Tauihu and Nelson City Council is about to enter the design stage. But before that, we went and caught up with around 200 tamariki to get their thoughts and dreams on their new space. The result? So many good ideas 🤯

#KanohiKitea 'The Seen Face' -A Public Talk, was held tonight at The Suter Art Gallery Theatre as a part of the #Tuku24 Festival.
This was a followup korero to the KANOHI KITEA 'The Seen Face' Exhibition that was held over 8weeks last year at The Suter, and was part of the 2023 Nelson Arts Festival.

Mama was the Kuia in the exhibition. She was also the advertising face in the Arts Festival media campaign last year. #ProudDaughter

Tonight we heard from Louisa about her curation of each piece and artist and working with the suter; from Melissa Banks, one of the talented Photographers, sharing about capturing the special moments of Mokopapa.. as well as, the individual korero of several of our Te Tau Ihu maori whanau that mau (wear) Moko Kanohi.

It was a heartfelt night.
Louisa did a fabulous job with the original exhibit, and once again tonight, collaborating with The Suter to educate and advocate about Moko Kanohi.

Sharing our purakau (story) about where tāmoko came from. Why they are worn in general -sharing our Whakapapa (genealogy) visually..
What they specifically mean and why that person has chosen to wear the markings -is the individual korero, and in todays age.. probably only slightly different to the reasons our tipuna (ancestors) received theirs.

Here's a sneak peek behind the cover of our Spring Edition, which lands in stores tomorrow!

We're proud to be sharing the stories of resourceful wāhine across Aotearoa, who are creating a brighter future on the land. Kristen Gerard of Pelorus Sound, our cover feature who we introduced last week, and her family have an ethos that is deeply entrenched in conservation. Nukuhia Hadfield and her three siblings have successfully built a farming legacy for each of their own families through a clever intergenerational farming model. Kiri Roberts of Clareview Farm in Ashburton is paving the way for science-driven decisions in farming. Tui Keenan, wāhine toa, discovered a passion for hunting and with that a reconnection with her heritage, and now draws on her hunting skills to help whānau develop resiliency, self-sufficiency and their own connection with te ao Māori.

This edition also features a wonderful collection of Lovely Things from nine local makers and producers, recipes from @niciwickesfood new cookbook A Quiet Kitchen, a journey down the backroads of Wairoa to uncover hidden gems, heartfelt rural weddings and so much more.

Enjoy our new Spring Edition with your own two hands - it's available from tomorrow, 12th September, in specialty bookstores and supermarkets, and on our website (link in bio).
