I admit that I can slip into hustle mode quite easily.

And it doesn’t help that we are surrounded by advice on how to optimise, improve and achieve more.

I genuinely love my work. It challenges me, excites me and gives me purpose.

But balance matters.

Next week, I’ll be reading at a celebration of life for someone very special to me.

As I think about what to say, I’ve realised it will be about how she made me feel. Her generosity and warmth. The conversations we shared around the kitchen table.

🐧 NEWS FLASH 🗞️ Penguin Random House UK has named 44 independent bookshops as recipients of the Penguin Children’s Bookshop Grant 2026, selected from 159 applications.

And guess what?! Chapter 34 is one of them.

Many of you will have been lucky enough to meet Carmen, our legend of children’s bookselling. Carmen is so passionate about getting children reading, if you haven’t come in to see her beautifully curated children’s section you simply must.

You may have heard about Carmen, and Emily’s work with ‘Chapter Chasers,’ a new incentive for the ‘International Year of Reading’ that encourages all children to read more.

Chapter Chasers is our children’s book club where we celebrate brilliant books with rave reviews and shiny collectible cards. There is no pressure to buy from us, you can borrow the books from the library or your friends. Find out more on the bookshop website.

This grant means that Carmen can continue this fabulous incentive, not only at Chapter 34 but also in our local schools and into the local homeschooling community. This grant is so welcome and means we can SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS about Chapter Chasers.

A gentle, creative space for mums to pause, reflect and connect.

Join us at Circular Space in Shoreham for nurturing peer support sessions running throughout the year. Come to one or come to them all. Each month explores a different theme, from matrescence and motherhood in the media to art, nature and written word.

No creative experience needed. Just show up as you are. Babies up to 14 months welcome.

“We have never been so close to achieving gender equality — and never closer to losing it.” — UN Women

More girls are in school than ever before. Stronger laws exist against domestic violence. Women’s movements are more connected and visible than at any point in history.

And still — violence is rising.
Online abuse is growing.
Hard-won rights are being rolled back in real time.

Progress is not inevitable. It happens because people choose to stand up for it.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme — Rights. Justice. Action for All Women and Girls — is a call to all of us. Not just to celebrate women. But to actively support women’s rights and equality in the world around us.

Sometimes that looks like protest and policy change. But it also shows up in everyday decisions:

• Put more money in the hands of women
• Invest in female founders
• Buy from women-owned businesses
• Mentor and champion women in your field
• Call out sexism when you see it
• Believe and back women who speak out about abuse
• Vote for leaders who defend women’s rights
• Support organisations working on gender equality
• Amplify the voices and stories of women and girls

Equality is not just a principle — it’s something we build through the choices we make every day.

My own work is grounded in a simple belief: when more women are visible, heard and supported to lead, our societies become more compassionate, creative and just.

The photos shared here are of some of the wonderful women I’ve had the privilege of working with — women who are contributing, in their own ways, to a more just, inclusive and sustainable world.

On International Women’s Day, it feels like a good moment to ask:

How can we together - no matter your gender - help create a world where every woman and girl can live safely, speak freely and exist equally?

I’ve been thinking about something…
The women who show up to my masterclasses are usually exhausted. Not necessarily just physically tired, but emotionally exhausted from trying to be “good enough.”

Good enough at their job. Good enough at their health. Good enough at their body.
And the irony? All that effort to be good enough is exactly what’s keeping them stuck.
Because your body doesn’t need more willpower. It needs more listening.

I have a number of interests revolving around hanging out with dogs, start-up marketing, coastal living & more …

In my late thirties, I’ve finally learned (and will continue to, I’m sure) that happiness and success rarely comes from pushing harder.

They come from paying attention ~ to yourself, your energy and what genuinely lights you up.

I’m a start-up-loving marketer who feels most at home in creative impactful environments. My brain often feels like a Jason Pollock painting 🌀 sorry to ppl that are more methodical around me!

Over the years, I’ve worked alongside thousands of dreamers and doers, helping turn ideas into momentum. Right now, I’m CMO at @e_nation, and later this month I’ll step into a new chapter as UK Small Business Community Manager at @canva. LinkedIn is where my wider credentials lie 🤓😜

I care deeply about supporting founders, particularly women when it comes to access, visibility and investment.

One of my most proud moments was leading a @metaforbusiness campaign that trained 10,000 women in its first year to adopt technology to advance their confidence and skills.

I’ve lent my voice to conversations that matter, even when I feel I’m not qualified, and showing up in rooms where decisions are shaped.

Community is where everything meaningful in my work has grown.

In 2023, I co-founded @sheshoreham with @flow_with_fran and @michelleflynncoaching ~ creating space for women to connect, share and grow locally. Prior to Covid, I lived in London and chaired Primrose Hill Entrepreneurs. I’m also continually shaped by communities I’m part of such as @up.world_ @themarketingmeetup @rebelbookclub + more 📚

I could go on but there’s a little sprinkling of information about me.
