I chose to become a single mom at 20 because I had some really damn good people behind me. Greensboro’s service industry gave me a way to support Phoenix & myself, & our family & community showed up for us. They still do. We wouldn’t be here without you. ♥️

ANNNYWAY… this dude showed out helping us with drag brunch! He sees what needs to be done & jumps in, even when everyone’s stressed. Could probably run @chandlersdtgreensboro but I’m hoping for a less stressful career for him. 😂 He gets showing up for your people, & that makes me proud! Then @brendathedragqueen said his name on the mic & simultaneously embarrassed him & made his whole day🫶👑

Greensboro, you’ve helped raise this kid right alongside me. ♥️ Looking at this picture… 20 year old me had nooooo idea our life would end up being this cool. ♥️🌈

Happy Pride Greensboro… & Thank You for helping me raise such a cool kid!

QUESTION OF THE DAY: On a scale of 1-10 how much do Phoenix & I look alike??!?! 😂😂

I’ve never been a goals kinda girl. I’ve never had a 5 year plan. I’m good at hyper focusing on what is in front of me and I like to stay busy. But having a plan for my future? Nah. That never crossed my mind until the beginning of this year.

In January I started to think about what more I could do as a business owner in my community. How could I meet more people and tell them how amazing our staff and restaurant really are? How could I work more with non-profits? How could I be more involved in what’s happening in Greensboro? I obviously talked to my husband and best friends about this yearning to do more. And then networking was brought up to me.

First- I started going to @shewolfco events - it looked like the kind of girl group I could get involved with - coffee, crafts, outdoors, cocktails, a come as you are networking group for women. The connections I’ve made in the group alone have been wonderful. There a woman of different ages, tax brackets, race, occupations and it is such a safe place for me as a woman business owner. They really get me.

Then I signed Freeman’s up to be a member of the @gsochamber - this one was a BIG step for me. And very much so out of my comfort zone. I started with membership 101 then moved on to restaurant takeovers, WE connect, @synerggso events, and coffee and connections. I’ve really dove into these events because what they’re talking about and who they’re supporting truly matters. From talks with non-profits to hearing from Greensboro’s neurosurgeons to women having an hour to chat about where we’re at. It’s all been meaningful and truly worth the time I’ve put into it.

Then my bestie @kristin.kling (Freeman’s financial advisor- check her out!) recommend we sign Freeman’s up to be a member of @guilfordmerchantsassociation - the amount of education they have for their members is remarkable. The food is always good. The games they have at networking events gets the crowd going. And the Risers Lunches are always a great time to connect with people my age. GMA is always a fun time and I’m lucky to be able to experience it with them.
