POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Grief is one hell of a beast and everyone that has been there knows. Sometimes there are no words to describe the sadness, anger, shame and regrets and all you can do is to find the words to describe what it feels like to peel back some of the layers of emotion involved ... here are some of those words ... hug your friends, call your mom, keep telling the stories and fuck cancer ...

Video filmed by @tobicoffeebreath with contributions by @42n8son, Joshi @zskberlin and our besties in @heartatactpunkrock (THANX big time!)

Lyrics:

orphanage bears

yesterday I sat in silence
staring out to sea
not to escape the world
but because the weight of it damn near crushed me
the kid I used to be
the water's reflection
calmly staring back at me

it's now been quiet for two weeks
but last night I saw you in my dreams
as you sang our lullaby
and told me it'll be okay
... just not the same

if cancer won't kill us
our secrets damn sure will
while I'm struggling to breathe
at least that's how I feel
four weeks and one phone call
noone ever to blame
blind to the beauty of the places we don't escape

you have to be the thing that saves you
... no one's coming to save you

A Greatest Hits? album from a punk/hardcore band.
Not really of course! It's more a compilation with (at that time) harder to find songs from releases that were out of print and still are.

It's a great introduction to @asfriendsrust if you want something on vinyl from them and it's still available. @shieldrecordingsnl @notdamiendone

"Scars" is out in the world for two weeks now and we just wanna say thanks from the bottom of our hearts for all the positive reactions, kind words and love for these six songs! Thanks for taking the time to listen, thanks for watching the videos, thanks for spreading the word or putting songs on your playlists, it means the world.

We had a lot of you askin about the vinyl and at the moment, the only way to grab a copy (you should!) is to order from @shieldrecordingsnl or bribe any of us ...

Picture by the one and only @thezitterman (thanks!)

The Real Danger + Lotus + Circles + Bezette Stad

19u | Shield Recordings 20 year (+2) anniversary | punkrock | hardcore | gratis

The Real Danger:
The Real Danger is a punkrock band from Rotterdam/Utrecht/Zeeland. Formed in 2006 from the ashes of hardcore band Uppercut. Shield Recordings has released 3 LP’s and 3 singles of the last 20 years!

Lotus:
“Known for their no frills attached approach to punk music, raw live energy and lyrical depth, LOTUS release their highly anticipated new album “Forever Martial”. This first post-COVID effort dives into a visceral exploration of existential despair, confronting the tyranny of modern existence and the emotional toll of living in a world dominated by economic hardship, political lip service and psychological collapse. Fans can expect an unfiltered, raw collection of songs set to a more analogue sound but entirely true to LOTUS form: no excess fat – relentless from start to finish.”

Circles:
Discordant guitars and rolling bass lines fill this release along with layers of melody that leave you with an emotional inclination for more. Taking sway from bands like One Last Wish and Dag Nasty, CIRCLES deliver well crafted melodic infused hardcore.

Bezette Stad:
Bezette Stad is a hardcore punk band from Mechelen in Belgium. They released their debute LP F.A.N.O.N. in November of 2025 on Shield Recordings.
