Have you heard about our Jenerous Jello Campaign? A monthly fundraising partnership hosted by us.

This campaign highlights local organizations doing meaningful work while engaging with the community in a fun, community-driven way.

Each month we feature a specialty Jello shot, and $1.00 per jello shot sold gets donated to that months charity.

Each charity has a spot light night to connect with guests and share their mission with the community.

Leading up to their night, they will be advertising a 25% donation flier. When presented at the beverage counter on the day of their spot light night, 25% of their order will be donated to their charity.

Thank you to all the charities we have partnered with so far and many more to come 💜

Today is #SupportYourLocalChamberofCommerceDay. 💚 But we think the best way to celebrate is to hear from the businesses and organizations that make our Chamber what it is.

Again and again, our members tell us that some of the biggest value comes from connection: meeting the right person, finding an unexpected partner, getting more eyes on their work or coming together around something our community needs. Those connections also strengthen the work we do together around advocacy, workforce development, and regional economic development.

That tracks with what we believe the Chamber is here to do. Not be the hero of every story, but help create the space where people find one another and turn good ideas into action. So today, we want to hear from you:

👇 How has being part of the Eugene Chamber benefited your business or organization?

On Saturday, November 7, from 2-4:30pm, BEST is bringing together partners and community members for the Safe Streets Action Party: an opportunity to joyfully plug into the Streets That Work coalition through art, writing, discussion, and action.

RSVP and find more information in the link in our bio!

Celebration Ride:
We’ll kick things off at 2 p.m. at East 19th Avenue and Patterson Street, celebrating the new Patterson Street Safety Pilot, which was inspired by LiveMove’s Erick Njue Connector. From there, we’ll ride together at a comfortable group ride pace the 2.4 miles to the LCC Downtown Campus at West 10th Avenue and Olive Street, where we will have dedicated and secure bike parking for the event. All ages are welcome!

Workshops & Activities:
At 3 p.m., we’ll begin the workshops and activities portion of the Action Party at the LCC Downtown Campus. Our partners will lead hands-on activities including:

- Grass-tops activism, strategizing with elected officials and government staff: Postcard writing arts and crafts ; Speech-writing
- Grass-roots activism, focused on public education: Op-Ed writing ; Poster-making arts and crafts
- Direct action: DIY crosswalk chalk art (with free take-home supplies!) ; DIY murals
- Also: free bike repair!

You’ll also have a chance to meet people working on initiatives for a safe Highway 99, River Road, and Grove Street; more accessible sidewalks; a mural on Patterson Street; and other efforts to make our streets safer, more welcoming, and more connected.

If you have any questions about the event, please reach out to info@best-oregon.org.

I care too much about the safety of my community and the people who I love to silently tolerate this: it’s scary how normal it is for people to drive while distracted by their phones, putting everyone on the road in danger.

There has not been a day in my 6 years of daily commuting to work by bike that I didn’t see at least one person with a phone in their hand, their attention pulled away from the responsibility of operating a 2,000lb+ vehicle. In the afternoon, it’s common for me to see drivers navigate stop and go traffic between 6th and 13th on Chambers with only the slightest glance up from their phones, completely oblivious to the other cars, bikes and pedestrians all around them as they cruise through busy intersections.

I do my best to ride predictably, exceeding the common standards for lights and reflectivity, but even the most visible rider in Eugene is in danger when drivers care too much about their phones to actually look at the road. Some of our most vulnerable pedestrians are hard to see, even when actively scanning. Even when stopped at an intersection or slowly rolling, drivers who are looking at something other than the road or handling something other than the steering wheel are risking injury to themselves and the people around them.

If it’s something that truly can’t wait, it doesn’t take much to pull over safely and attend to business. Otherwise, I guarantee that nothing that happens on a phone is as important as the safety of everyone on the road.

At school, we teach students to be upstanders who choose to step in and interrupt harm when they witness injustice, so I’m challenging you to do the same: If you see someone driving distracted, please say something. It doesn’t have to be confrontational. We just need to make drivers uncomfortable enough when they realize that someone notices and cares. We’ve all got people we want to get home to.

Did you see Mothra at the Eugene Bright Parade? Our amazing pottery instructor @thebecstudio was part of the aesthetics team behind Mothra, an incredible collaboration between @eugenemakerspace and @shiftcommunitycycles that took home Best View in Motion at the @eugenebrightparade!

It took mechanical, electrical, and aesthetics teams working together to bring Mothra to life, with JB Luker leading operations and keeping it all moving!

We’re pretty proud of you, Bec and everyone who helped with this incredible creation! 🤎
