Last month I had the honor of being a participant and moderating a couple panel discussions @shifting.forms.symposium at the @emilycarru and it was such an impactful gathering. To hear from all these matriarchs and artists speak to their work in this particular moment we are in was powerful! Amanda @gidagaakoons_ been dreaming up this gathering for years and did a phenomenal job curating it all! I’ve been a long time admirer of Amanda’s and was over-the-moon delighted when she came on board to start directing “Molly of Denali”. So grateful for you! Being able to connect in person and meet so many other Indigenous media makers not only inspired me, but also now has been collaborating with a broader group of kind & compassionate human beings.🥰 Shout out to our Molly fam @atomiccartoons for being so present and sponsoring! Loved seeing you all! #shiftingforms #IndigenousStorytellers #Animators #MediaMakers #Filmmakers #queerspaces #safespaces

@shifting.forms.symposium Day 1 Friday, April 11, 2025 I loved all the animated films screened tonight. They are all great works of art and story-telling in multi-media forms, material and disciplines. My favourites are Tiny, Little Lake and Inkwo. Thank you and congrats to all the artists! SHIFTING FRAMES SHORTS PROGRAM This collection of Indigenous-created animated works explores the spectrum of media and artistic material in film and animation, its relativity to the range of contemporary Indigenous perspectives, and visualizes the immortal practice of sharing stories, knowledge, and truths between people. The program will be followed by an audience QNA with Directors in attendance: Alanis Obomsawin, Dennis Jackson, Ritchie Hemphill, Lindsay Mcintyre, Asinnajaq, Lia Fabre Dimsdale, + More. Location: Reliance Theatre – Emily Carr University of Art and Design 7:00 – 9:15 pm https://shiftingforms.ca/#day1

@shifting.forms.symposium @spottedfawnproductions Congratulations to the incredible work and diverse indigenous worlds these indigenous film-makers have created. I was moved by the quality, impact and experience of the story-telling especially within the relationship within family and communities in human, plant and animal with connection to the land, water and sky within shifting forms in its indigenous futures and the everlasting spirit through these shifts.
