PINCH ME! This is my dream night. 💌💫🌑
Bringing people together to share what practices keep them centred, creative and well is my favourite way to be in community.

On Wednesday we took our shoes off and got all cosy in @dicefm’s snazzy living room (thank you @taichikozaki)

💫 AI scientist and psychonaut (and as it happens, hubby) @vezhnick took us through three vajrayana practices to find spaciousness in sound, image and body.

💫 Chef and auntie @shikhalamode made snacks to die for.

💫 I got to hug some of my favourite people in London and share a tool that works for me to keep me present: @getbrick

Thank you @kidcircus for documenting the magic. ✨
Next month, we’ll get into a little room with the embodied, magical, mystical woman that is Katie Abbott @pause_place. More soon. Stay open.

In these last three pictures, I had a full-blown eating disorder. I’m finally ready to open up about it. Fully.

I’m sharing this to remind you that your body is beautiful because of what it can DO, not because of what it looks like. Race weight, looking perfect, being perfect. These are all things that are really, really, really hard to just let go of.

The first three pictures were taken right before the half marathon I ran last weekend. Strong and BADA$$! I wasn’t really trained specifically for that distance. But who cares! I put myself on the starting line because I COULD. I went for it. I learned a lot. I had fun. My biggest takeaway was how I felt and how I continue to feel right now. STRONG!

As someone who used to look in the bathroom mirror and pick out every single flaw, I looked in the mirror yesterday and said, “DAYMMMM, GIRL. YOU ARE STRONG AND BADA$$.” I said it because I BELIEVE IT. Not because I was trying to convince myself.

SMALLER DOES NOT EQUAL FASTER. OR BETTER. OR HOTTER. STRONGER DOES!

You can eat good, nutritious food (and A LOT of it) and be very fit. Training for distance running doesn’t automatically mean you’ll gain weight. If changing your body comp is a healthy and appropriate goal for you, work with a qualified RDN. I’m in the process, so that’s not me YET, but there are SO many great professionals who can help you do it safely! ❤️

I’ve experienced finish lines where I was completely depleted afterward. I’ve spent the rest of the day on the couch feeling wrecked. I’ve experienced finish lines where I’ve walked through, recovered, fueled up, and went about the rest of my day feeling strong (like yesterday). THAT difference is worth talking about!

I know I’m not you. I know everyone’s experience is different. I know what it feels like to feel like $hit. I know what it feels like to feel AMAZING. I want you to feel strong, fueled enough, healthy enough, and confident enough to keep showing up and crushing it for years to come. Bc you CAN!

Thanks for reading my TED Talk! 🙏🏼🫶🏻🤩💗

👉🏻 SHARE this with someone who appreciates this as much as you do. Sharing is CARING!! #runafastermarathon #runwithalli™️ #runwithallicoaching

🚨 DITCH THE PACES‼️✌🏻

Thinking about training for your first (or a faster) half or full marathon?

Start by tuning into your effort, not your watch!

✔️ Effort-based training helps ya build endurance and confidence with no complicated pace charts needed here!

🗣️ Conversational Pace = You can chat easily. Easy runs, long runs, recovery days. Mostly Zone 2 training.
💬 One-liner Pace = Still comfy, but you’re working a little. Think: steady effort. Zone 3 - Zone 4 training.
🔥 Pushing That Fitness Pace = Harder, sustainable. Half marathon effort zone. Zone 3 - Zone 4 training.
😮‍💨 I Can’t Talk Right Now Pace = 5K effort. Short, spicy intervals only. Zone 4 - Zone 5 training.
🥵😂 Good Hurt Pace = Fast and tough (only for a couple of minutes max!). Zone 5 training!

Trust your body. Listen to it. You know it best! The results will follow. Don’t force the fitness. Keep your training challenging, doable, and FUN! 💪🏻🏃🏻‍♀️🤩🙌🏻

YOUR COACH NEEDS TO KNOW MORE THAN YOUR SPLITS!👀

Training doesn’t happen in a vacuum! It’s important to understand your needs as a human first, then as an athlete. The more we know, the better we can make your goals happens and help you! Traveling? Something hurts? Motivation is low? Work is bonkers? Sleep has been 💩? A pace that normally feels easy suddenly feels HARD? TELL YOUR COACH!!

These aren’t excuses. They’re CONTEXT, and context helps us coach you better.

A good training plan should evolve with the human first, and that human following it, adapting as they go. The more open the communication is between athlete & coach, the better we can adjust training, manage stress, troubleshoot problems, and keep moving toward the bigger goal! 🤩🙌🏻

You’re not bothering your coach by sharing what’s going on.

You’re giving us information we can actually COACH with. 💯

Communication creates better coaching. Better coaching creates stronger athletes.

SHARE this with a runner who needs the reminder: your coach can’t help with what they don’t know! Communication is kindness!

Isandro is 1️⃣!!!!

I never thought I could so more obsessed with someone but wow, Isandro is da 💣 I watch videos of him every night, find excuses to bring him up in conversation, feed him mangoes to oblivion, and pick him up early from nursery twice a week because I miss him. He dances to 1970s Bollywood songs, cracks up whenever I say “mama” (clearly has no clue what it means), and LOVES reading. His software updates every other day and he takes his first time on earth so optimistically, I am up to my ears in awe. Nothing I do will ever be enough for what he deserves and this reality rattles my soul. But I am going to keep trying by feverishly building our family culture to be as good as we can possibly get. Every day with him is a reminder to stay curious, say what we want (or babble it if you’re a baby), and love unconditionally.

Happy birthday to the human who changed us forever. I love you I love you I love you. I love us I love us I love us.

Today’s training tips/thoughts in no particular order!

Full disclosure 🙋🏻‍♀️ It is reallyyy hard for me to tackle any workout in sunny temps! But doing it makes my brain and body more accustomed to, and accepting of, what the day brings! Every darn time!! And if you can zoom out and see the larger picture, that’s a gift. Without these lessons, these tough moments, we would not be able to get the best out of ourselves. Am I right?!!!

✨Pro coaching tip: Adjust your training to meet how you are feeling right now. This is key to keeping you going and EXCITED to train while giving yourself a little more grace to work with! This way, you will find it WAY easier to stay motivated and continue to lean into discomfort when it counts, embrace the pain, and endure the hurt your body allows in the now, letting it cook! 🤪

Find joy in the process and the daily grind, and you’ll train your brain to see the good in the process and in YOUR journey! I promise! Especially during the summertime, whatever you’re training for!!

Drop a 🙌🏻 if this hits! & I hope you do what brings you joy outside of running, too! 🤗🤍
