Unfortunately, the season comes to an end for Eau Claire Post 53 with a 6-4 loss to Sheboygan in the Wisconsin American Legion AAA State Tournament. Post 53 battled back all afternoon after falling behind 3-0 in the first inning and eventually cut the deficit to 6-4, but couldn’t quite complete the comeback. The offense was led by Zach Shipman, who went 2-for-2, while Blake Bugher scored twice and added an RBI. Aiden Becker finished with a double and an RBI, Calvin Barneson drove in a run, Kolin Leazott added an RBI, and Ian Bauer chipped in a hit. On the mound, Logan Zinsmaster battled through 3.2 innings before Brad Vesperman turned in two scoreless innings of relief, allowing no hits while striking out one to keep Eau Claire within striking distance. Post 53 finishes the summer with an outstanding 26-4 record, capturing the River City Classic championship, winning the Region 1 Championship, and earning a third place finish at the Wisconsin American Legion AAA State Tournament. A huge thank you to our players, coaches, parents, and fans for their support throughout the season. It was a special group that represented Eau Claire and Post 53 with class all summer. Thank you for following along, and congratulations to all of our players on an incredible season.
