DIDO AND AENEAS — PREMIERE 6. Eine Geschichte über Liebe, Verrat und Selbstbestimmung, but with a twist!

On Vienna’s Graben stands the Pestsäule, shaped by Lodovico Burnacini — the special-effects genius of Baroque opera. He gave Vienna this monument the way he gave Emperor Leopold I his spectacles on stage: a ten-hour opera for the imperial court in 1668 — Antonio Cesti’s ‘Il pomo d’oro.’ Unperformed in full for 358 years, it was revived this summer at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik — a milestone production staged by Fabio Ceresa, with Accademia Bizantina under Ottavio Dantone, and Sono soprano Shira Patchornik as Sardigna and Pallade. And as Shira shone in these roles, she shines again next Sunday — receiving the Opus Klassik Award as Young Talent of the Year, for her recording with the CHAARTS Chamber Artists, at the Konzerthaus Berlin, broadcast on ZDF. Vienna: the historic soul of opera. Our artists: its living present.

🎶 Agostino Steffani: Orlando generoso „O mia vita, o mia speme, o mio tesoro!“ Duetto Bradamante / Ruggiero, 1. Akt
Bradamante – Shira Patchornik
Ruggiero – Morten Grove Frandsen

What a week!! 😻 I had an incredible time at the Linos Festival - thank you to the boys for having me! Never has music-making been so much fun, if only I could work out how to laugh and play oboe at the same time! Amidst the cackling, it was also a week full of creativity, bouncing ideas off each other and culminated in 5(!) versatile, wonderful concerts in 3 days! From making my recorder debut, speed-running 7 years of friendship in 7 days with @lilyatym , stepping in with some last-minute Britten Metamorphoses, meeting the CUTEST dachshund ever (shout out to Harriet and the marvellous @shira.patchornik) to playing Gran Partita with my best friend @faganiniiii - it’s been a special week all around and to do it with such a generous and inspiring group of musicians has really enriched my soul! 💙 Thank you @faganiniiii @prachissimo and Vlad of @linospianotrio for inviting me. You have really created something unique and special and deserve all the success and fanfare in the world 🎺 Bravi tutti!

TIME FLIES...🦉🦅🦆 First VO job ever? 2017 was the first time I completed a voiceover job. In this instance, it was a bit of singing, for the beetle Bedford in the film "Die Biene Maja 2: Die Honigspiele". Bedford's dulcet tones sing the evil Spider Thekla to sleep, so the rest of the gang can escape.. 🕷🪲🐌🐝🐞 It was great fun! Thanks to Ute Engelhardt for the invite and @shira.patchornik for setting it up🤘🫰 I had no idea that a few years later I'd fall into the industry proper, like! 🥰 p.s. Shira also lent her incredible instrument to the film as well 😁🤩 listen out for us!
