‘On the Wallpaper as a Physical Terrain to Land On with @shivanimines,’ Suboart Magazine Nr. 58 🤍

Born in Mumbai, India, and based in Brooklyn, New York, painter Shivani Mithbaokar uses wallpaper, found materials, and furniture to reimagine decorative motifs as abstract anatomies, exploring the body as a landscape of healing, memory, and transformation.

It was an honour to interview Shivani for Suboart Magazine Nr. 58, where the artist spoke with us about her creative beginnings and love for painting, the role of wallpapers in her work and the beauty of working with found materials, daring to take up space amidst power structures, artistic references & inspiring artwork, the work as a mirror of herself, and much more…

You can read the interview in print or digitally - link to grab a copy in the @suboartmagazine bio 🌿

Enjoy!
