A special day with the best of friends! It was supposed to be a Porch Party in honor of Nala but since it was almost 100° today, we decided an air conditioned house was better! Nala would approve!

I’m so grateful for my friends who’ve been there through all the things — loving and supporting me, allowing me to grieve, be happy and just being there always. Today I celebrated them and honored my sweet Nala who was my ride or die in all of my life adventures.

This little love of my life brought me out of ‘retirement’ and got me to pick up my camera after almost 6 years!! Doing this photo shoot felt like I was given the biggest gift — to photograph my grandbaby and leave him memories and love that will last a lifetime!

Chandeliers hanging overhead in what feels like a rainforest. A disco ball glimmering in the natural light…because why not? Deliciously crafted food and drink. New little discoveries around every corner, and a team that makes you feel at home from the second you walk in.

Leadership is everything.

Before I ever had business partners, I had mentors and bosses who spoke life over me…who saw my gifts and helped me steward them long before I was healthy enough to lead a company of my own. That legacy has followed me into Good Grit, where we’ve built a culture centered on whole humans, lifelong learning, and work that truly serves.

Today, I’m honored to announce Samantha Southerland as the new CEO and partner of Good Grit.

Samantha is a gifted strategist and marketer with an MBA from Auburn, a seasoned executive, a wife, and a mother of three incredible daughters. I’ve watched her launch her own company, lead at the executive level as Vice President of Strategy and Marketing for a billion-dollar organization, and show up with wisdom, clarity, and integrity. Like many of my most meaningful partnerships, ours began as a friendship. We’ve served together, prayed together, and dreamed audacious dreams together.

Shivani @shivanitara , Shelly, and I could not be more excited to welcome Samantha into this role.

As Samantha steps into the CEO seat, I’ll be moving into the role of Chairman of the Board, continuing to consult from behind the scenes and focusing more intentionally on what I do best—strategy and scale for our larger clients. This partnership also allows me to step more fully into what I feel deeply called to right now: continuing to write, speak, consult and advocate for mental health through Before You Cut Bangs, @beforeyoucutbangs while staying closely connected to the vision and growth of Good Grit.

What I know to be true is this: when women join together in healthy partnership—rooted in trust, humility, and service—the world only gets bigger. This is a new chapter for Good Grit, and it’s one we’re stepping into with gratitude, clarity, and real excitement for what’s ahead.
