goodbye nyc 💔 hello again seattle 🏔️🌲

this summer wyatt and I embarked on a perilous 5000 mile adventure from brooklyn (where I left behind many of the most wonderful friends i’ve ever had 🥲) to kansas (to purchase a gigantic and ridiculously difficult to move risograph machine) to monterey (to gather all of wyatt’s belongings) all the way to seattle (where we now live in a lovely little cottage in the central district)

the weather’s getting colder and I start a new big girl job tomorrow (for the first time in 3 years, much of that time spent bouncing around the world, not in a very glamorous way I fear)… oh new york, I will love you forever, thank you for everything you’ve given me. seattle, a breath of fresh air! currently settling into my #domesticity era

In these meetups we’ll work on our individual or group projects and collaborate with others. We also do quick show and tells to receive feedback and get creative or technical help. The events are open to people of all coding levels, from professional software engineers to total beginners. We also engage in discussions about creative coding, share resources, discover artists’ work, brainstorm together, and more! Bring your laptops!

🤖 HUMANOID: FALL FLAT | OCT 18 • Brooklyn
Open Call + Showcase + Anniversary Party

Humanoid: Fall Flat takes its name from the viral party game Human: Fall Flat, carrying its spirit of clumsiness, unpredictability, and play into an evening of goofs and mayhem.

Artists are invited to use robotic failures, glitches, malfunctions, and breakdowns as raw material to question, poke fun at, and examine the rise of humanoid robots and our emerging relationship with them.

Join us at Hex House for a showcase, short artist talks, audience voting and awards, followed by music, drinks, and mingling as we celebrate 4 years of @uaad.art and 3 years of @creativecodingnyc ! 🎂

There are 3 ways to participate:

1️⃣ SHOWCASE A PIECE

Submit an existing work or make something new. Robot imitations, found-footage projects, unruly simulations, video, animation, movement, creative coding, sound, and other experiments are all welcome. It doesn’t have to be polished.

2️⃣ GIVE A 5–10 MINUTE TALK

Share a project, body of work, or creative process related to humanoids and our evolving relationship with them.

3️⃣ CONTRIBUTE TO THE PRIZE POOL

Donate an item, event tickets, or something else! Contributions will go toward the night’s 🏆 awards and 🎁 raffle. To donate a prize, DM @uaad.art.

The theme was ~ Soft Code: Handmade for the web ~

This is the year of whimsy. We wanted to celebrate an internet that feels handcrafted, personal and made with love. The web was supposed to be a space for self-expression, curiosity and connection and we wanted to bring some of that magic back.

A website where you can cut out magazines and PDFs to make collages to share with the community.

A series of posters and collage generator.

Zeh’s work ~

Anzhelika presenting “img2sample”

A tool that translates images into audio samples using Google Lyria’s model. It runs in the browser and also as a native DAW plugin for music producers.

@tabi.sock presenting “DnDJ”

A web app that ties into Spotify and makes managing music for a DnD session much more intuitive through the use of tagging and inclusive/exclusive filtering.

@shivaviswan presenting “Paintify 3D”

Shiva developed a painterly software to add a textural aspect to his @daysofshiva work. It’s an experiment in combining effects of hand drawing and painting to the world of 3D and digital.
