I love dogs! I used to tour in bands but now work in pathology in addition to making dog collars, leashes and traveling in an RV as much as possible.

milhouse (@milhouse_lihc) at the joint, staten island. not sure of the date.
staten island and long island were close in a way that’s easy to forget now. both a little bit outsiders to the main nyhc scene, even though we were right next door to it. the scenes were sort of like cousins. the welcome went in both directions. honestly, I wonder if half the reason LI bands booked so many shows there was to visit that vegetarian chinese restaurant near the joint.

I guess everyone knows where they were 25 years ago. What they were doing, who they were with, what they were wearing and how the whole day went. Although I’m Portuguese, NYC has a special place in my heart for all the reasons. The movies I grew up watching, the music scene that changed my life forever and the friendships I’ve made through that same music scene. In the spring of 1998, @justin.brannan @shocktartt @stevebago @nakleh @zedherb and @thomassheehan welcomed me in NYC like I was family and family they have become. On that first trip to NY, me and @mrshirtguy went to the top of the World Trade Center and it was un unbelievable experience because where we come from there are no tall buildings like that, no city views comparable. I have some pictures of that day somewhere. The other day I found these pictures you see here and they were taken 1 year before 9/11 on my Nikon that I had back then. I was just starting to take pictures. It was October of the year 2000 on one of the many trips I had the privilege to take to NYC. It was a sunny day, I was roaming alone downtown and decided to go up and watch the sunset on top of the towers. The sound of silence up there was something magical. I will never forget that experience. It was hard to believe that one year later I would be watching these towers disappear on TV. The NY skyline changed forever and the world was never the same. #neverforget 🤍

My aspirations extinguished by your oceans of excuses. I’m drowning in them now.

I only ever saw The Wage of Sin once. It was Bunnyfest 2004(?) in Georgia. A haphazardly put together fest coordinated by a teenage show goer of the time that was funded by his grandparents. It was massively stacked. This outdoor, concrete pier of sorts was the setting for one of the wildest shows I was lucky enough to go to. Every big band of the time was on the flier. The Black My Hearts, Bury Your Deads, Shattered Realms, and On Broken Wings were all sick and accounted for. But it was the underdog bands of the time that REALLY made this shitshow sick. I remember bands being paid by personal checks signed by an elderly couple in the midst of complete chaos that they couldn’t have had any clue they’d signed off on. But, one of my favorite bands from Bunnyfest was The Wage of Sin. I was a young, vegan straightedge teenager there to mosh my Sauconys off. I remember being so enthralled by this all girl band playing thrashy and mean Metalcore. I was immediately drawn in by the bass drum having been customized with the slogan “No Fucking Whey” lol. A witty shoutout to all the vegans paying attention. All these years later, and I’m still vegan straightedge telling stories of the days that I was moshing my Sauconys off and still jamming Wage of Sin records.

2002. The Wage of Sin.
