I’ve attended as a content creator but my favourite part is being a part of the audience - watching the joy on the stage ✨, bumping into friends I haven’t seen in forever 🥹 and dancing the night away at the iconic after party 💃🪩

I fear, no one can do it the way BCT do it 🤷🏽‍♀️

In honour of Black Music History Month, we had the pleasure of producing an immersive evening celebrating Black music and poetry through the lens of Manchester’s creative trailblazers in partnership with @bruntwoodscitech

Taking over the 14th floor of their new building at No.3 Circle Square, we transformed the space into a celebration, bringing together music, poetry, performance, art, design and incredible views across Manchester.

At the heart of the experience was The Travelling Spotlight. As one artist finished their set, their spotlight faded and another spotlight came alive somewhere completely different in the room.

Instead of sitting back and watching the show, guests were inside the experience. From the art exhibition tunnel to the drinks reception to the drummer playing as guests arrived to the 14th floor to the live performances throughout the evening, every detail was intentionally designed to create a journey.

A huge thank you to Mandy Garbett and the team at Bruntwood SciTech for trusting us with the vision, and to everyone who helped bring Uprooted to life. 🤎✨

And now… we’re excited to be collaborating again & you are INVITED!

Shonde’s performance at the BCT Showcase was nothing short of beautiful and captivating. His smooth, soulful sound created such a calm and soothing atmosphere that drew everyone in.

There was something graceful about the performance. The kind that makes you pause, listen, and simply enjoy the moment. Truly a beautiful display of musical artistry. 🎶

What an extraordinary night to witness such creativity, artistry and talent! Loved it! Listening to this young man had me so entranced he portrayed an old soul. After months of planning, praying, problem-solving and working harder than I ever thought I was capable of, we hosted the most incredible night celebrating Black creativity in Manchester and across the North.

Over 100 incredible creatives. Over 1,000 tickets. And the most amazing team of volunteers who went above and beyond to make sure every guest had an experience to remember 🤎

I’m so incredibly grateful to God for such a successful night and for every person, opportunity, partnership and piece of support He sent our way to help bring this vision to life.

What started as an idea to create a space where Black creatives could be seen, celebrated, connected and given opportunities has grown into something so much bigger than I could have imagined.

This year felt particularly special. Five years of Black Creative Trailblazers. Five years of watching creatives step onto our stage, find their people, build confidence, develop their craft and go on to do incredible things.

To every creative who performed, exhibited, showcased their work or contributed to the programme, I hope you know just how special you are. You brought your A-game and completely blew us away. I hope you feel incredibly proud of yourselves. 🥹🤎

To our volunteers, team, partners, sponsors, supporters, speakers, performers, artists and everyone who bought a ticket, shared a post, recommended a creative or simply believed in what we’re building, thank you.

It really does take a village and what a beautiful village we have 🤎

Last night, we hosted our biggest showcase yet 🥹🎉

Over 1,000 tickets. 100+ incredible creatives. A village of volunteers. One unforgettable night celebrating the wealth of Black creativity across the North.

It was a room full of talent, culture and community unlike anything Manchester has seen before.

And we couldn’t have done it without the people who continue to believe in what we’re building 🫶🏾✨

The @blackcreativetrailblazers
community beautifully captured what it means to balance artistic strength with radical vulnerability.

In it's fourth year this annual spectacular celebration brings together some of the UK's most exciting emerging Black creatives in music, dance, fashion, art & poetry

Yestetday was an evening celebrating creativity, culture, and community!

We experienced incredible live performances from soul-stirring spoken word to captivating fashion shows to music that will have you dancing in your seat.

We Immersed ourselves in a space filled with exceptional talent, powerful storytelling, and artistry, all set against a backdrop of joy.

🖼🎨 - An exhibition that featured a village wall, a timeline of the event over the yeats, welcome performances and an art exhibition featuring a wild range of artists exploring the theme of their marketing campaign - It Takes A Village

🎤 Live Performances – Poets, musicians, and performers bringing powerful storytelling to the stage. Including..

👗 Fashion Shows – Runway shows of bold, unique designs from Black fashion designers. Including....

🎧 Live DJ Sets – Incredible DJs spinning the best in Afrobeats, R&B, Amapiano and more.

🤝 Community & Networking – A space to connect and celebrate. We met and reconnected with so many people....

Ahead of the showcase in just two days, we brought together some of the incredible creatives taking to the stage and connecting them with cultural leaders, commissioners and members of the press.

For us, the showcase is about more than one night. It’s about creating opportunities, opening doors and making sure Black creatives across the North are not only seen, but connected to the people and platforms that can help take their work further.

The stage is ready. The creatives are ready. And we can’t wait to bring it all to life. 🖤
