I want to go back and revisit this moment. Slow it down a bit. Reflecting on this feels Empowering. In an age of creativity being diminished and undervalued.

Thinking a lot lately about imagery and image making. So. Much. Content. And Technology…Good…and Bad.

Posts happen SO FAST on Social Media and then they’re gone. We saw all the beautiful work of designers, architects, stylists, and photographers flash by so quickly. Creators and their vision.

The work that our clients, the designers do takes years of study, apprenticeship to get where they are and then to design a home can take years. We have so much appreciation for the process!

When chosen as the the photographers to not only document a project, but to bring our own artistry and put our spin on it. We consider it a privilege. It can take days to capture…unique compositions. Expressive lighting. to styling a home (an entirely different skill set) each pillow, each throw. Perfectly placed. Perfectly or intentionally imperfectly styled. The selection of flowers, of produce for the kitchen…so a space feels lived in. That something is happening and there is a human presence. Warmth. A home. It can take days in post…retouching or working with a retoucher to achieve a certain look. layering in windows (I wish I could say “I don’t do windows!”) Then to find a home in a publication so the imagery can be celebrated and live out in the world. To share with others and inspire, teach or to just simply gaze at something beautiful and dream. Getting lost in beauty. Calm. Reflective. Pensive.

@thesaltingny creating pieces articulated with such artistry, who designed and dressed Patrick for this moment we captured. The dedication and passion…that becomes a shared vision.

Much of this would not be possible without our editors who we are forever grateful for! Especially DJ Carey @djcareyinct who introduced us not only to Patrick Mele, but to countless other Interior Designers who we have worked with over the years and who we consider not only colleagues, but friends.
