Andddd now I’m really switching it up by listening to Hollow Bones by @jodipicoult. It’s so emotional and raw, I’m really enjoying it. How’s your reading going this month?! it’s been a while since a shelfie sunday for me and I felt like it after updating my reading trackers! I’ve had a chill weekend which has allowed me to finish a couple of books I had started, which has me at 84 for the year so far! My goal was 80! Tbh I have a weird relationship with numerical reading goals (for myself) and I mostly make one just so that Goodreads and Fable have something to track but I might just make it like 10 next year 😂 it doesn’t have any impact on the amount of books I read and I’m not motivated by the number at all. 80 came and went this year and so whattttt. It could have been 40, 20, or 10 for the year and that is still more than someone not reading a book since high school lol. ❤️World Mental Health Day❤️ ________________________________________________ Today is World Mental Health Day. Mental health is something that is very close to my heart, and @authorabbyjimenez represented mental health so well in Your Truly. Jacob has extreme social anxiety, and it’s not just he’s shy or awkward in social situations, no it’s that his body has a chemical response in social situations which causes an emotional reaction. My daughter has social anxiety, and while she is only 12, so many of the reactions and responses that Jacob has are spot on to her reactions too. I was seriously in tears reading this book because it gave me hope. If you’re a mom, you know we worry about our kids futures, and who they will be when they grow up. We think about the life they’ll lead and the partner that will come along side them and journey through life with them. I worry so much for my girl because people are hard for her. It takes her a very long time to be comfortable with you. I worry that she won’t make friends or that people won’t understand all her quiets. Reading Jacob and Bri’s story showed me what her life could be, when she meets someone who knows all her quiets. This is a very long post, and thank you to those who actually read the whole thing.
