I’m a firm believer in prevention instead of reaction. Always try to get in front of things. One of those is keeping my family from getting sick or at least trying to prevent it as much as possible or minimize the symptoms. That’s why @shopfiddlehead easy to order, easy to make and so easy to take! One of my favorite herbalists! #HealthyFamily #HealthInYourHands #Herbalist #Elderberry #Local #SupportSmallBusiness #NorthCarolina

In our final Waste Less Wednesday post, we get to discuss the very best part of Earth Day Jam. 🤠 This whole eco movement originated in support of local farmers, school gardens, and growing food within the community. Because people who work in the earth and soil care a LOT about the Earth and soil.

Why is it eco-friendly to support local?
* It keeps more farmers on their farms.
* It keeps more small businesses in their buildings at the hub of town.
* It feeds and employs local people.
* It fills our schools with student communities who get to learn how to grow food in gardens and enjoy the harvest.
* It reduces the amount of miles driven to deliver food (even though, truth be told, it only marginally reduces the amount of fossil fuels used in production - We thought it would be a big difference! Big reframe. Always learning.)

So, the next time you have the option to purchase local, whether this Saturday at @earthdayjamnc or in some other situation in the future, decide if you have capacity for that extra time and energy and sharing of resources. 🚲 It may be a bit farther away or cost a little bit more. 💰 It may not! Sustainability is only sustainable if it works for all of us. So where can you commit to supporting local? Where do you WANT to commit? Pick just ☝️ one thing. Start there and notice how it feels every time you engage. Figure out if it is worth it to you. Then keep on or give that up, and then try another.
🩵 It gets easier every day. (And more fun too!)
Keep it simple.
Keep it sustainable.
Keep it local.

* Did you know that there will be local farms set up at the Earth Day Jam this Saturday April 20th? They’ll join the other 80+ vendors, local advocacy orgs, and educational groups, all coming together in support of local organization @happyroots_nc . *And if you purchase a VIP ticket, you get to have four samplings of chef curated, locally grown meats and produce and even herbs grown by Happy Roots paired with local beer by @newsarumbrewing and wine by @childresswines ! Learn more at EarthDayJamNC.com

Featuring song “Carolina Heart” by Yarn who will be playing at #earthdayjam ❤️

Soccer game rained out this morning, so the boys and I got our strawberry bed planted! 🍓 we are expanding the garden quite a bit this year… project still in the works, but today we officially have plants in the ground!! 👏🏼 Sprinkled borage, thyme, and oregano in here with the strawberries. They should be good friends 🌿🌿

“Sisters are doing it for themselves”🎶
March is all about the women, and we are proud to show off their amazing talents in our little gift shop area. We stand beside so many strong women who have the courage to be entrepreneurs. We recognize and thank the women in history that paved the way for our opportunities, and we encourage the next gen to follow theirs dreams, intuitions, and hearts. 🙌🏻🫶🏽💪🏼
