Tallula’s room! We clearly still have to complete the closet and snug side of the room, but we just couldn’t wait one more day to share the completed portion of the space with our girl. This bold, bright, pattern filled room would have never come to life if it weren’t for letting Tallula be involved from start to finish. She picked the color palette, she independently picked the art and the bedding, she approved the wallpaper, the light fixture, the furniture and every single other choice. Every design decision I made was run by her for the okay. She wanted the room to feel like her. Whimsical, bold, unapologetically weird and artistic, brave, cool and fun. No one knows her more than her- so it only makes sense she be super hands on. The end result was hearing her say “it was the right move to trust you, Mom” 😭
We could not be happier to give her this space to grow into and explore. We hope she remembers not only this room, but this process and it gives her even more confidence to trust herself and to continue to create magical things for all of her days.

Choosing flooring? Follow these steps before you commit 👇

1. Bring flooring samples home so you can see them in your space.

2. Compare them beside your kitchen cabinets, countertops, paint colors, and fireplace stone.

3. Check them in natural daylight and with your lights on the undertones can look different.

4. Look closely at the grain and texture, then choose what works best with all your finishes.

✨ Flooring Before & After ✨ Goodbye, orange polyurethane floors ✌🏻 👋🍊

My original floors were DATED and ORANGE-toned hardwood floors 🤢

I didn’t want to sand them because I hated the thin lines and I wanted my floors consistent throughout the entire condo for the resale value.

I bought light oak wide plank floors from @shopflooret and the difference is NIGHT AND DAY.

The entire space feels brighter, bigger, and so much more updated. ✨

Proof that you can change the entire look of any house by making small upgrades.

🐾 and they are Copley approved✅

Would you have refinished the old floors or replaced them?

Next step in Tallula’s room was getting these @shopflooret Silvan engineered hardwood floors, in their Arden finish, installed #ad. Matt has an ongoing back injury, so getting up and down to install the flooring wasn’t gonna fly- but these floors are so DIY friendly he was able to do the cuts while I did the install and we got it done in just a couple hours! We went with a warm tone to pick up the warm grain color from the hallway oak flooring, and also to ground the bright paint colors in our little girls’ space .
