Trees are a constant source of inspiration for design. Their shape, texture and colour bring a natural sense of movement to an interior, whether through a view from a window, a piece of furniture or a wallpaper. Trees offer a broad design vocabulary. They can be bold, decorative, architectural or subtle. Whether through a forest wallpaper, a rustic piece of furniture or the natural grain of wood, trees bring scale, texture and character to a room. We often introduce trees and forests into our designs because they work particularly well across large surfaces. A woodland scene can add depth and movement to a room, while making the walls feel more expansive. For us, the appeal lies in how easily they can be reinterpreted, making them a natural starting point for interiors that feel layered, personal and full of life. A little colour goes a long way ✨

The Diamond Lampshade from our Kit Kemp x Studio Zef collaboration — a simple cream linen shade finished with a playful border of hand-painted diamonds in a joyful mix of colours.

Designed to bring just enough pattern and personality to a room without competing with everything around it. I love how differently it works in these two spaces: sitting happily against a wonderfully expressive artwork in one, and amongst the softer greens and botanical pattern of the bedroom in the other.

Each shade is printed by hand in the Studio Zef workshop in the Cotswolds, so every little diamond has its own character.

Stripes are anything but ordinary. Both decorative and architectural, they bring rhythm, movement and balance to a space. Whether bold or understated, stripes have the ability to alter how a room feels, drawing the eye, shaping proportions and adding a sense of structure. The key is to use them with confidence and restraint. Consider the direction of the stripe as carefully as its colour or scale and layer stripes with other patterns; florals and geometrics work particularly well alongside them. Stripes have a quiet confidence. They don’t need to shout to leave a lasting impression. Their strength lies in rhythm, proportion and simplicity.
