All the things I didn’t know I needed until I saw them. My recent trip to Birmingham, Alabama was like entering Ali Baba’s cave. There were so many treasures at the @antiquesgardensbham antique show and @still.johnson Great thanks are due to @steelemarcoux and @verandamag for organizing a wonderful Design Summit. It was not to be missed.

We are so excited for our upcoming Tupelo Garden Club fundraiser, Celebrating Seasons of Gathering!

Join us on Tuesday, November 3 as we welcome Mark Thompson, designer and owner of Shoppe in Birmingham, for what promises to be a beautiful and inspiring program.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased from any Tupelo Garden Club member or at Mid-South Nursery, Reed’s, Philips Garden Center, and Jody’s Flowers.

An October weekend in Birmingham

A weekend well spent in Birmingham at @antiquesgardensbham. Antiques and flowers…what more could you ask for?

Gardens, antiques & interior design — my kind of girls’ weekend. 🌿 🌳 🪑 🛋️

We came to Birmingham for Antiques at the Garden and a weekend full of garden and interior inspiration — and met some wonderful people along the way.

A few favorite moments:

Wandering into landscape designer Troy Rhone’s shop after his antique garden pieces caught my eye, only to realize I already followed and admired his work. He was incredibly gracious and generous with his time and advice.

Finally meeting Stephanie at Clemontine — a fellow lawyer who has also built an incredible antiques shop and travels to Europe monthly to source. Needless to say, we had plenty to talk about.

Laura at Henhouse Antiques inviting us back at 7 a.m. to scope out her European container unload. Obviously we went. And I found vintage horse cufflinks there that are becoming earrings.

Running into Bunny Williams and Elizabeth Lawrence at our hotel — getting to chat with Bunny about landscape design, and telling Elizabeth how much I loved her top and that I have the same one. 😂

And telling Jennifer Gracie that I once borrowed a pickup truck to drive 2 hours to buy three Gracie panels and then had to cut them down to fit my house. I was relieved she wasn’t horrified.

Somewhere in between, a mirror, chairs and antique fern prints also managed to follow me home.

My favorite reminder from the weekend: see it, touch it, sit on it, ask questions and talk to the people. The stories and conversations make the hunt so much better.

And when you find something you really love? Buy it. You’ll find a spot for it.

Already plotting the next girls’ trip. 🌿🤔

It’s been a gorgeous day to sit on the patio and eat shave ice @shoppebham! Swing by and get the last of this Muscadine Lemon Lavender while it lasts!

We’ll be here until 3:15 today. Then heading over to the “It’s Never Too Early For Costumes” Market @urbansupplybham from 4-8pm(as long as the weather holds up)!
