How do you say goodbye to an arrow? 🏹💔

When an arrow takes its final flight, I can’t just throw it away.

I spend hundreds of hours with my arrows. We practice together, compete together, travel together... and eventually, some of them become more like friends than equipment.

So I developed a little ritual to honor my fallen arrows.

It might sound strange...

But it helps me move on and keep shooting.

Arrow number 30 was one of the good ones. ❤️

Do you get attached to your archery gear?

TLDR: Summer of 2026 was legendary. #outdoornationals

At my age I questioned if it was ok to have a new dream. I never thought I’d find myself traveling across the country competing in a sport I started for stress relief. My first uninterrupted year of archery, first year competing, and first outdoor season has been a huge first step toward that goal. In the span of a few months I gained so much. I visited places I’d never been, met people who share the same passion, made new friends, and learned from everyone along the way.

Reflecting on this summer, the most important thing I’ve learned is mental fortitude. There were setbacks and challenges, in both practice and competition. Shooting lower than my average. Wondering why I wasn’t seeing results. Questioning whether this was truly my best.

Then there’s the unique thing about the sport of archery. A complete beginner like myself can compete head-to-head against some of the best in the country and the world. Facing them was a true test of spirit. Thoughts like “there’s no chance,” “you’re just a beginner,” and “is my dream silly?” constantly fought their way in.

Despite that, I had no intention of dishonoring them or my own dreams. Each time, I found the strength to quiet the doubt and stepped up to the line with an intensity that surprised myself. After my last arrow of the season, I stepped off the line proud, having faced the pressure of an absolute archery legend and never once holding back my best.

The season has ended, but the clock has only reset. I’ve seen the mountain I have to climb, and felt the intensity it takes to compete with the best. Grateful to everyone who shot beside me this summer. I hope to continue competing with everyone in the years to come.

JOAD Nationals! This tournament is always a surprise for me, I didn’t quite qualify as high as I wanted but I decided to bring my A game for eliminations and had to shoot eliminations for two days because of heat delays. I ended up taking fourth but I’m still super proud of how far I’ve come from the beginning of the season.
