25th and 26th of September at Projekttheater e.V. Dresden.

When does a device cease to be a tool and begin to behave like a parasite, an external
organ, or a creature?
Who is holding whom in this relationship?

In BICHO, performers encounter a robotic creature that can be attached to their bodies by
sucking their skin. The device, specially designed to embrace the body, move
with it, and resist it. Post-Organic Bauplan’s machines are built to create situations of encounter: strange,
intimate, playful, erotic.

Against a technological
culture increasingly shaped by automation, optimization, surveillance, and control, BICHO
proposes another imaginary: one in which machines are not made to make bodies more
efficient, but to enter into strange and intimate relationships with them.

A robotic counterculture, born from the dancing body.

Join us at Eros of Our Own; explore fandom culture as a site where queer-feminist counterpublics find strategies of resistance as well as unapologetic ways of recognising ourselves and each other and collectively re-write, self-identify, co-create, deconstruct heteronormative public discourses, and reconstruct power dynamics.💫

The title of the exhibition references the name of the fanart platform ‘Archive of Our Own/AO3’ and Andre Lorde’s ‘Uses of the Erotic’. Guided by their spirits, the exhibition performs as a space where eros can be embodied and resonated through the shared language of fandom.💫

‘When I speak of the erotic, then, I speak of it as an assertion of the lifeforce of women; of that creative energy empowered, the knowledge and use of which we are now reclaiming in our language, our history, our dancing, our loving, our work, our lives.’
- ‘Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power’, Audre Lorde

That’s a wrap on Parasites & Robotics! 5 days of diving deep into parasitic adaptations, speculative design, and robotic prototyping, blending theory, sci-fi and biology into one wild creative process.

We explored sensor systems, actuators, Arduino boards, and interactive tools like TouchDesigner, Pure Data, Max/MSP, and Ableton Live, turning laptops into host bodies of our responsive robotic parasites. By the end of the workshop, we collaboratively prototyped and brought to life our own robotic parasite.

Huge thanks to an amazing group of participants your curiosity and energy made this journey unforgettable.
Gratitude to @shot.behind.walmart and @josef1n4._ for joining as collaborators, infinite thanks to @sybil.gg for opening this amazing new space with us, and @houseofibo for the production.

Finally thanks to @arduino.cc and @jlcpcb to trust in our vision and support the workshop.

I’m already looking forward to organizing the next edition! 🪱⚙️ Stay tuned.

Swipe to see some glimpses of the robotic parasites in the making…
