🐊 48 PLAYERS ACCEPTED THE CHALLENGE.

Now we’re getting down to business.

This weekend marked the official launch of the 2026/27 Gators International Academy, bringing our Academy squads and coaching team together for the first time.

And we couldn’t be prouder of what we’re building.

48 young players have chosen to step up.

To leave their comfort zones.

To challenge themselves against unfamiliar opposition.

To experience different styles, cultures and levels of basketball.

To travel, compete internationally and test themselves against some of Europe’s leading youth basketball programmes.

And ultimately, to find out just how far their game can take them.

We know we’re still a relatively small academy….. But don’t mistake small for unprepared.

We have ambition.

We have experienced coaches.

We have talented players.

We have international competition.

We have relationships and pathways developing beyond the UK.

And we have a group of players and coaches hungry enough to work for everything we want to achieve.

We’ve already shown that we can compete internationally.

Now we’re ready to see how far we can take it.

There are talented players all across London, Essex and beyond who believe they’re good enough.

But believing it is one thing.

Are you prepared to test it?

Are you prepared to leave what’s comfortable?

Are you prepared to step onto the court against some of the best young players in Europe and see where your game really stands?

48 players have accepted the challenge.

There is still room for one or two more who have what it takes.

And with U20 Phase 2 Tryouts still to come, we’re not finished yet.

If you think you’re good enough…

STEP UP.

A Huge Congratulations to Zion Correia!

We are incredibly proud to announce that former Gators International Academy player Zion Correia has signed with Real Madrid Basketball—one of the most prestigious basketball clubs in Europe.

Zion represented Gators International Academy at the 2026 Pre Semana Santa Tournament in Zaragoza, Spain, where he produced a series of outstanding performances against some of Europe’s top young talent.

Following the tournament, Zion has now earned the opportunity to continue his basketball journey with Real Madrid @realmadridbasket

Providing talented young players with opportunities to compete on the international stage against elite opposition is exactly why Gators International Academy exists. We are delighted that our programme was able to provide the platform for Zion to showcase his ability.

A huge congratulations to Zion and his family on this incredible achievement. We wish him every success as he begins this exciting new chapter.

The journey is only just beginning. 💚🤍

Could your journey be next?

Applications for the 2026/27 Gators International Academy are still open. See link in bio @gators.basketball.info

A rare self-appreciation post. 🏆🥈🥉

I have always been far more comfortable celebrating the success of my players and teams than talking about my own achievements. Shouting about myself has never come naturally, but I have been encouraged to pause, reflect and acknowledge what has been a very special season for me as a Head Coach.

Three international tournaments. Three medal finishes. Two historic firsts.

🇪🇸 Zaragoza, Spain
U14 Pre Semana Santa Champions — the first UK team ever to win the tournament. I was also incredibly proud to receive the Coach of the Tournament award.

🇧🇪 Kortrijk, Belgium
U16 Xmas Tournament Finalists — the first UK team ever to reach the final.

🇬🇧 FIMBA European Championships
Bronze medal as coach of the Great Britain Men’s Over-40s team.

But this story is about more than one season.

When I arrived at The Gateway Academy in Tilbury, the school had never reached a final in any sport. Over the following three years, basketball became the most successful sport in the school’s history—producing Junior NBA champions, London champions, Essex Cup finalists and national last-eight teams across boys’ and girls’ basketball.

I am proud of every medal and achievement, but I am even prouder of the players who committed themselves, trusted the process and represented their teams, schools and country with distinction.

None of this success was created by one person. Thank you to every player, assistant coach, parent, colleague, photographer and supporter who contributed to these achievements.

So, just this once, I am allowing myself to appreciate the journey, the work and what we have achieved together.

Three tournaments. Three medals. A season of history—but the work continues.
