Every photo in this carousel is from our first T1D Screening Queen Early Detection Retreat in Palm Beach. 👑🌴

Three days of yoga, boating, dinners, laughs and bonding with an incredible group of T1D ambassadors and content creators. They live this every day and wear their tech with pride. Pods, sensors, all of it. 💗

So here's what we want you to know: Type 1 diabetes doesn't start with symptoms. It starts quietly and silently in some cases many years before illness occurs. DM “SCREEN” for Free T1D Screening.
Why it matters:
💗 No surprise DKA diagnosis (a serious life threatening condition)
💗 Time to plan, monitor, or ask about therapy that can delay stage 3 and the need for starting insulin
💗 About 90% of people diagnosed have no family history, and roughly half are adults

One finger prick. That's it. And its FREE. DM “SCREEN” to get your free screening.

Apparently you can put diabetes advocates on a pink boat, but you cannot stop us from talking about diabetes.

And honestly? I love that.

Because some of the best health conversations don’t happen in a clinic or behind a podium.

Sometimes they happen over brunch.

At an event.

With friends.

Or, apparently, somewhere in the middle of the water.

That’s what I loved about the T1D Screen Queen Retreat. We got to have fun, be together, and still make space for conversations about type 1 diabetes screening that can actually matter in someone’s life.

Advocacy does not always have to feel heavy to be meaningful.

Sometimes making health more approachable starts with bringing the conversation into places people already want to be.

And yes, the pink boat helped.

Before seeing content like this, had you ever heard people talking about screening for type 1 diabetes?

Two days, one incredible community. 👑💗
Honored to attend the T1D Screening Queen Retreat as Screening Queen ambassadors — hosted by @t1dscreeningqueen and @timeinrangenp to spread awareness for free T1D auto antibody screening.
Getting to be with other Type 1 diabetics for two days of connection, rest, and real conversation was its own kind of medicine.

Thank you to our sponsors:

With or without a family history of T1D, anyone can get screened. Screening Queen makes it easy to check your own risk or get a loved one screened, before symptoms ever start. Early detection saves lives. 🩸

The first ever T1D Screening Queen Ambassador Retreat (but not the last) — that’s a wrap. 💙

Facials. Dress and jewelry shopping. Flowers, gifts, fine dining, a Michelin-star chef, a five-star hotel, a boat day — all while talking T1D screening and early detection.

But the best part was the company.

These women are an inspiration. Many of them juggling two or three jobs, kids, nonstop work travel, raising young children with T1D — all while managing their own type 1. I have always been a cheerleader 📣 for women. These women set the bar at a whole other level.

Getting to know each of them and hearing about their beautiful lives was a gift.

The women around you set the standard. Pick them on purpose.

And a huge thank you to our local community sponsors and partners — every single one a women owned small business.👑 You made this weekend what it was. I’m so grateful for you.

Ford f-350 driver decides to express himself and his exhaust into traffic.

Easily dodged by basic awareness in traffic.

@accelerated.max (driving instructor? really? )

*maybe I should explain
I have a handlebar mirror that I use with shoulderchecks.

I can hear the diesel engine and I see the oversized Ford.

Anytime I hear/ see a diesel vehicle I am already anticipating that this person might be that kind of driver that will roll coal.

The plan is always to dodge it by changing lanes, and I obsessively signal turns, lane changes, merges, etc.
(99% of the time as physically possible)

The purpose of occupying a full lane is visibility. No one hits you "accidentally" if they can see you.

Being obvious makes it easy for any driver to see you well in advance, and plot their course past you.

I also make sure to have multiple flashing lights to make not seeing me
impossible.

Most of the danger lies in encountering a homicidal driver, or one that is impaired or completely distracted.
I am always in the same danger that anyone else is on the road.
