Grateful to @dlrc_pune for an enriching, thoughtfully designed learning experience 🌱

Our students explored learning in its most meaningful form — walking barefoot on the farm, engaging their senses, and understanding Science, Maths, and EVS through real-world contexts.

A special highlight was playing games designed and created by DLRC students — a wonderful example of peer learning, creativity, and collaboration in action 🎲

The literature workshops in Hindi, Marathi, and English saw students writing their own stories, building models, and learning through play and imagination. We also enjoyed maths, science, and business games that made concepts come alive.

We were deeply inspired by the artwork created by both parents and students — a true celebration of community and creativity 🎨

Thank you, DLRC, for demonstrating how joyful, experiential learning can truly be.

Last Saturday, our students got a challenge!
They had to build a bridge using just paper and glue, and make it strong enough to hold weight. Devansh's group rocked it! They loaded it with plant pots, books, and more, and it didn't even budge.

The best part? They learned valuable lessons about teamwork and integrity along the way. But one student's question really made us think: "If a paper bridge can be so strong, why do real roads and bridges break easily?

@teachforindia is more than just teaching—it’s about creating, leading, and inspiring beyond the classroom. ✨

On Day 2 of @shoutt_2024 Mega Day, I had the joy of managing communications and hosting a heartfelt workshop—‘Jab Katputli Bolegi: Crafting Tales with Puppets’. 🧵🎭

Through the magic of puppetry, students shared their untold stories—raw, beautiful, and filled with emotion. ❤️

Grateful for platforms like these that allow us to spark creativity, connection, and joy beyond the classroom walls. 💫

✨ Gratitude & Joy ✨

A heartfelt thank you to SPIC MACAY Pune chapter and Team Shoutt for the incredible opportunity to share the beauty of Bharatanatyam with over 1500 students! Witnessing their curiosity and excitement for Indian classical art was truly inspiring.

Every single day was a learning experience for me as well. Seeing the eyes of ignorance open to the world of dance and expression fills me with immense joy. Moments like these remind me why I do what I do.

Thank you for this platform, this journey, and this chance to make a difference! ❤️

Nature and people. In yesterday''s session with @shoutt_2024 , we explored the interconnectivity of our ecosystem and environment. We found out how the climate crisis is directly connected to an increase in poverty. We practiced different activities to understand how climate change workers are also getting subjected to different class and caste-based discriminations for actually working to save the environment on the ground.

We watched the short film Mol(worth) curated by @swachcoop
through which we heard the furious journey of climate activists of Pune and their union.

With the conclusion of why and how of unionization, hopefully, we have started empathizing with the need for it for the unorganized sectors who are getting oppressed based on Class and Caste and learnt some individual actions that we can practice to make ourselves conscious consumers and growing teachers who will promote a community of student leaders to deal with the urgency of the climate crisis.

Thanks to @blanksystem09 , @mermaidtoes
for providing us with this opportunity to reach out to different fellows. While we are moving ahead towards a film festival that we are going to organise along with ALTEFF, this opportunity played a vital role for us.

What comes to your mind when you think about the phrase "Hum Dekhenge"?

This was the guiding question given to Arshan when our team sat together to make the concept of this video. Videography is another aspect that we have taken for mentoring our children as it is an important aspect of journalism. This form of art generally remains with the privileged section as who has got time to think about angles, proportion, flow, colour grading when you have debts to clear and every moment to fear?
Videography is not just about capturing moments and making a video out of them. It is about observing, understanding the essence, and articulating a story out of it. A story without words. An art form that demands strong expressions. Videography is an art form that can be understood by many, but a huge weight rests on the shoulders of the videographer to make everyone feel it alongside.

@ar.shan.__ (Arshan), a 9th grader from Jawahar English Medium School at (Ganeshpeth, Laxmi road) who is a natural artist, observed, shot clips of different moments, and articulated a story out of them while we were executing our session on identifying patriarchy and problems that promote rape culture in @Shoutt_2024. We are glad that we are getting this opportunity to work with him, through which we introduced him to the song "Tu Zinda hain" by Safdar Hashmi.

This is a video where Arshan showcased his brilliant skills in producing this video of team Hum Dekhenge in action.

The purpose of the workshop was to give a voice to the unheard and let their sound echo, emphasizing the urgent need for protest poetry in India today. The participants, both poets and rappers, effectively applied what they learned.

They identified key issues that inspired their writing, each creating something powerful and impactful.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped me reach this point! 🙌🏻

On October 6, 2024, we had the honor of conducting our first independent workshops, and I led a session on protest poetry at @shoutt_2024 in collaboration with @humdekhenge_2024 , titled "The Sound of Silence." A standout moment was when I shared sir @epr_svnslas_iyer 's impactful rap "Badluram," which highlights the untold stories of two brave Indian soldiers, Badluram and Hangpan Dada, from the Assam Regiment. This powerful piece not only captivated the students but also sparked meaningful discussions about the experiences of Indian soldiers and the importance of protest poetry in voicing unheard narratives. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to delve into these crucial themes and to witness the students’ inspired engagement with their own creative expressions.

“When education is not liberating, the dream of the oppressed is to become oppressors.” -Paulo Freire.

Things we do through this project is something which can never be achieved in one day. Nothing can be achieved in one day but unlike everything this work has some additional challenges. The things we are doing don't have any pre-existing structures inside the system. It is not conventional and very challenging because of the seriousness of the content. Things we do often challenge the pre-existing ideas, mindsets, practices and beliefs which makes it prone to threats and resistances. Why do we do what we do? Because like Paulo once said, we are reimagining education which will teach to liberate.
These are some moments of the 2 hour session that we conducted at Shoutt where students engaged extremely sensibly. Their critical thinking and intention towards the cause left us amazed. The session was again a confirmation for us that without growing intention and purpose, thinking about students' growth can look very catchy but it doesn't change something partially. It somehow enables the failing shackles to fail more and eventually gets into a vicious loop of systemic problems just like what Paulo stated that the dream of the oppressed changes to become an oppressor.. It maintains the line of difference and either creates oppressors or oppresses(in almost all the cases it increases the list of oppressed classes).
To send students with some individual practice we rewarded them with a small sticker designed by us. You can see the sticker in the second photo and probably identify the objective.
This was a small sticker that we thought to give to the students for their regular practices to challenge pre-existing mindsets in them and their. surroundings. Yesterday we got this text from Sujata, who observed one of her students had made an artwork and pasted the sticker in her diary. The first step towards any change is to value the cause and the intention with heart. The child has done it and also gave us a hint that she wants to be consistent in her practices.
These are some photos from our sessions where we chose to practice education as an instrument to enjoy freedom

The banners are so powerful that no explanation can fully capture the statements they intended to convey through their banner making. Thanks to @shoutt_2024 for creating this space where we actually could connect with students beyond our classrooms and communities in which we are currently working.

While students in grades 7th and 8th were actively sharing their experiences and connecting them to the lessons on identifying patriarchy in their daily lives to showcase that through posters, students in grades 9th and 10th were engaged in some other activities. After the 1st hour of our session, we shared some slogans and statements that protesters are using as rallying cries for redemption against systemic oppression. The students resonated with two slogans and incorporated them into their banners.

Here are some photos of moments when they were actively working in the session. These photos demonstrate the interesting connections they have made between the term "Patriarchy" and their regular lives/experiences. They also articulate their desire to find a counter-statement to lead themselves and their communities towards an alternative to the male-dominated mindset that currently guides India.

We commend the young minds of 7th and 8th grade who participated in our thought-provoking session on rape culture in India at @shoutt_2024 Mega event day. Despite the challenging and serious nature of the topic, they engaged actively and thoughtfully.
Our goal was to empower these students to understand the root causes of rape culture and to develop the skills to identify enabling statements and actions in their surroundings. We introduced the term patriarchy and explored the negative impacts of male-dominated society on individuals of all genders and introduced the concept of patriarchy to help them connect these ideas to their own experiences. The second part of our session was based on learning the skill to identify it and practice some actions against it.
The posters created by the students demonstrated their growing awareness of the complex issues surrounding rape culture. We discussed how similar narratives used by rapists and ordinary citizens contribute to a male-dominated society that promotes male entitlement.
We also examined how systemic factors affect both males and females. Students shared personal experiences by making connections to their learning from the session that illustrated the ways in which patriarchy can manifest in everyday life. One student noted the pressure to excel academically because he is the only male child in his family and has to take responsibility for his sisters instead of exposing his sisters to different opportunities for themselves. Another shared how boys in his school are often expected to perform physically demanding tasks at schools or homes even if there are no such differences found in physicality., regardless of gender differences.
While this important topic requires in-depth exploration over several days, we were impressed by the students' ability to articulate basic concepts of patriarchy in just two hours. Their participation and insights are a testament to their potential to be agents of change.

Special thanks to the entire team of the movies “That day after everyday” and “Juice” published by Royal Stag Select, Large Short films.
