Are you doing everything you’re supposed to do, showing up for everyone, and still feeling completely exhausted?

In this episode #240 of the Self-Care Goddess Podcast, Alika Victor talks about burnout, boundaries, and why even the most capable people can find themselves running on empty.

Alika Victor @showuphappy is a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach and founder of ThriveNow Wellness, where she helps overloaded adults rebuild energy and resilience through her Practical Wellness Method™. After 17 years in healthcare, including leadership roles at CVS Caremark, Conduent, and symplr, she's seen how burnout builds quietly. Her approach replaces rigid plans with "tiny experiments": small, doable shifts that fit real life. Alika leads workshops on burnout, boundaries, and stress, supports dementia caregivers, and has been featured in Exeleon Magazine and The Eminent Class. She is the author of Becoming Better: Tiny Experiments for Real Life Change.

In this episode, we discuss:
✅ Burnout vs. tiredness
✅ The four dimensions of capacity
✅ The hidden signs of burnout
✅ Boundaries without guilt
✅ Why high achievers struggle to slow down?
✅ Recovery is part of the work: What we can learn from elite athletes about sleep, movement, nutrition, and making recovery a regular part of life.
✅ Tiny experiments for real-life change: Alika's approach to testing small, manageable changes instead of trying to overhaul your entire routine overnight.
✅ The power of movement and gratitude

It’s Friday. Somewhere, an event is happening this weekend without a host who truly shows up for it. -
Your guests will forget the décor.
They will never forget how the room made them feel.
That is what MCJolly delivers - every time. Weddings. Galas.
Awards. Conferences. Here in the UK and across the world.
If you have an event coming up - let’s talk. Summer is peak season and my diary is filling fast. * DM me or drop your event date in the comments.

Speak this out loud today. Every word. 🙏🏾

I did not just survive this week. I advanced. Every seed I planted is working. Every act of excellence has been seen. Something is shifting in my favour — right now — even as I speak it.

Seal your Friday with your voice. What you declare today follows you into Monday.

They said the Father of the Bride was shy... Naaaahhh! 😂🔥 Watch him go from scouting the dance floor to absolutely owning it! There is officially no dulling on my dance floor. 🕺✨❤️🏅💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

Saturday 23rd March 2026 — a day I will never forget. 🥹🎤

My @Queen Okpechi and I locked eyes towards the end of our just concluded beautiful ROAR retreat and responded to the call of duty — and MCJolly had to show up.

We grabbed a quick meal (fish, peas and fruit on the go!), navigated Waze’s creative routing decisions 😂, did a lightning-fast outfit change and I stood before hundreds of guests at one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever had the honour to host. To calm myself and get in the zone , I did an improv rap that got me a ‘yeah yeah’ from the guests ❤️🌹🤣🤣.

Chidinma and Obi Orji — Mr & Mrs Orji — you were a joy from start to finish. The love between you both was tangible. Your bridal train gave us choreography. Your family and friends filled the room with warmth and colour. Daddy Sam gave us a dancing moment none of us will forget 😂❤️

And the vendors?! @eloquenteventsmgt Eloquent Event Management (Dupe) — you created magic. The DJ, photographer, videographers, caterers — everything flowed beautifully.

The sweetest part? The words spoken into my heart afterwards. From the bride, from both families, from guests — they didn’t know how deeply I needed to hear every single word.

The four words from my bride’s dad - “You did not disappoint.” really touched my heart.

This is why I do what I do . To guide moments beautifully. ✨

📲 If you have an event coming up — a wedding, corporate dinner, gala, awards night or destination celebration — I would love to be your MC.

You made it to Friday 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
Not by accident. Not by your own strength alone. You were carried here — through every meeting, every deadline, every moment that tested you this week.
Nothing was wasted. Everything worked for you.
“His mercies are new every morning — great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
Go into your Friday with your head high. You advanced this week. Now go finish it beautifully.
