Made this summer at @shrinetattoo for Julia 💐
When I make botanicals I find a reference that feels suited for my client. This was based off Green Gentian. Would love to make more like this! Do you have a flower in mind?

I had my first horse for 31 years. Thirty-one years of growing up together, learning together, making memories, and sharing a bond that is difficult to put into words.

Horses greet the people they love with a nose touch. But she had her own version of it. She would press her forehead against mine.

It was her way of greeting me. Her way of connecting. It was her version of a hug. Her version of I love you.
Her way of reminding me that whatever else was happening in the world, for that moment, it was just me and her.

It was such a simple thing, but it became ours. Every time she did it, I felt the same quiet certainty: you are my person, and I am yours.

When I decided to get a tattoo in her memory, there was never any question about what moment I wanted. The last photograph I have of us, forehead to forehead, doing the thing that had been ours for so many years.

I wanted that moment.

And then I discovered something that made the whole thing feel almost too perfect.

The person who took that photograph was my best friend, Jess—who was sitting beside me in the tattoo studio when we realized it.

The last picture of us together was taken by someone who would later be there to help me preserve it forever.

Somehow, that feels just like her.

Did some more things. Finally the tribute for my mare bear came to life. And a lyric that hits hard from Brandi’s The Joke. 💜 🦋

Morning glories for Robyn, started last winter at @shrinetattoo in Santa Fe & finished in a second session at @estuarytattoo in Brooklyn! It was mostly freehanded, besides the flowers being stenciled in.
🌸🌸🌸
Thank you so much for trusting me with this powerful placement, I really love this one!
