4th burn, and this one was completely different. I led Discotheque camp this year with an incredible team of leaders. So much work, but I’m glad I did it. It connected me to people in a whole new way, and reminded me why I keep coming back to the dust.

We threw two amazing parties I’ll never forget, and we built our new art car from the ground up. She came out beautiful, just wish we got to ride her more.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every camp member. To my fellow leaders, everyone who arrived early to build this dream with their own hands, and everyone who stayed late to tear it all down and leave the playa spotless. This was all you.

Next year we come back stronger and more planned. 344 days to man burn

Burn no.11 and somehow, one of my best so far...

@burningman has meant different things to me over the yrs.

The art. The absurdity. Strangers being kind for no reason. Tens of 1000s of ppl building a city in the middle of bf nowhere, taking care of each other, and leaving nothing behind (almost @bigimagination747 😜)

And after enough yrs out there, some of the principles stop feeling like slogans. Radical self-reliance, participation, gifting, leave no trace... you just kinda start living them.

Time works differently out there too...
Not in a lysergic acid way. Nor in an S-isomer or R-isomer Kitty way either.
More in a “sunrise or sunset?” kinda way.
You lose your normal reference points.

Then you look around and someone has spent 2 yrs building a giant piece of completely unnecessary art just to drag it into the desert, share it with strangers and maybe burn it 5 days later. Makes you rethink what “reasonable” even means.

This yr was fkn cold. Wet. Muddy. and just like the mud burn and last yr a lot of plans went to sh*t.

Been reading a lot of ppl on Reddit saying that the jiuce isn't worth the squeeze any more... that with all the million$ the org makes (loses) every yr they should change the dates, change the location, make it easier, or at least solve the 6-10+ hr exodus issue...
I dunno. If you want predictability, and comfort, there are much better party beach towns and resorts.

One of my favourite days was actually after the rain. The 8 of us couldn’t really bike anywhere, so we spent the whole day on foot. Camp to camp. Meeting neighbours. Sitting arnd talking nonsense for hrs. No mission. No schedule. Nowhere else we needed to be.

This yr was also different cuz, for the first time, I got to take a step back and watch a camp we started actually become a community of its own. Seeing friends contribute, strangers lead, parties fill up, and ppl experience their first Burn through something we helped co-create.

Maybe that’s what Burn does to you.
You start by going there to experience everything.
Eventually, you realize the best part is contributing something worth experiencing.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Beautiful peak art, music, views, and people. It truly doesn’t get better than that.

To going to a wedding (Congrats to the newly weds @meltemcakmakshuman & Mr. Shuman ❤️‍🔥 yall are too special), to helping build an art car, seeing and meeting some of my favorite DJs, going through the craziest dust storms, and simply experiencing burning man wholly.

I am so inspired by it all. I can’t wait to take it all in and take it with me as I continue to do the things I love in this life. So thankful
