IHSA Zone 7 Region 2

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Apparently my athletic career said, “Keep the balance, competition nerves, sparkles & questionable life choices…just replace your bases with a 1,200-lb teammate who has free will.” 🎀🐴😂

After a lifetime as an elite flyer & tumbler, I traded 5-6-7-8 for heels down, eyes up & FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, FIX YOUR DIAGONAL. 😭

Same athlete. Different uniform. Significantly larger teammate.

My first IHSA Zone 7, Region 2 weekend somehow ended with:
🥇 1st
🥇 1st
🥈 2nd

Turns out cheer & equestrian are suspiciously similar: balance, body control, performing under pressure, 47 corrections happening at once, and smiling like your brain isn’t fighting for its life. 😂

Biggest difference? My bases used to be responsible for keeping me off the ground. That job has apparently been reassigned to me. 💀

And unlike my stunt group, my new teammate hears the request, considers it…and occasionally submits a counteroffer. 🐴😂

Jokes aside, I’m incredibly grateful to be a rookie again, learning a new sport and surrounded by such a welcoming team. 🤍 Thank you @karlileblanc for this opportunity and to everyone who made my first show one I’ll never forget!

New sport. New arena. Same competitive heart. 💙
From flying high to riding tall…apparently I still refuse to pick a sport where keeping my butt off the ground is guaranteed. 😂🏆🐴

First ever IHSA show! I am so beyond greatful to be on such an amazing team. Walked away from this weekend with a couple of ribbons to start my collection of many more. Ended the weekend with some family time in the mountains. Can't wait to do it all over again in a couple weeks.

and just like that .. my 4 years has come to an end 😔💔 I’m so so so thankful for the @shsuequestrian and everything i’ve learned and gained from it. From high point ribbons, regional qualifications, a zones trip, and many many countless early mornings I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

and here i am about to graduate in a week, shaking in my boots - i have a very special @karlieleblanc to give me a leg up in the world as i’m officially THE big kid now in the big kid world.

And to Johnny for making me into the world’s most understanding and forgiving rider… one of the qualities that is most important in this sport.

So with much love 💗💗 peace out SHSU✌️
