Dear DJ, a couple of weeks ago you raised your right hand and took the oath to serve this country in the Army National Guard. 🇺🇸

As your mother, I would be lying if I said I’m not scared. I am very scared. That’s just me being your mom.
But what fills me even more is pride. Deep, overwhelming pride.

I am in absolute awe of your courage, discipline, and willingness to step into something bigger than yourself. I trust that God will guide your steps, protect you, and lead you into this next chapter as you’ll also continue on to college.

This feels strange and bittersweet, it’s the closing of one chapter in our family story and the beginning of another.
The little boy I raised is becoming a man. Our lives are constantly changing.
